Bush Nominates Bork!
That's it, don't you see? He's going to right all the wrongs of GOP past, just like he did in Eye-Rack! He's going to get Bork on the court, where his predecessor failed! It's brilliant! Expunge the past! Employ the old Soviet airbrush!

Mark my words...

2. Nope! Both are too old! Shrub wants his legacy to linger on
for a very long time. Why do you think he nominated Roberts? He's probably going to be on the court for 30+ years!

Bork is way too old now. I doubt he'd choose Starr either.

I have no idea, but my guess is Gonzalez, Janice Rogers Brown, or some extreem RW nut job. We'll probably find out on Monday or Tuesday next week.

3. I agree.
A couple of other evil possibilities are Edith Jones or Ted Olson.

11. Let him nominate Ted.
There will be so many reporters following Teddy around that we will finally find out whether or not there's any truth to the recent rumors about his not-so-late wife.(For the record, I believe she's underground at Mt Weather, not in Poland or wherever Flocco said she was.)

5. Don't count your vultures before they're hatched.
There are many things that could prove you/us wrong.

He could actually become a star "liberal/progressive" on his rulings - like the other one who was expected to be a conservative and turned out anything but - we can hope.

Also, surprise fatal illnesses constantly develop in people everyday where there was not even an inkling of any such thing.

Life has a way of sending us curve balls.

There is no such thing as certainty.

16. I think it will be Gonzalez
It would be the first Hispanic justice on the Court. I have a very good feeling that Bush wants this.

4. I would bet on...
it not being Gonzales. He is not liked by the RW and the advisors probably won't let him no matter how good a friend he is. It will be a minority or a woman or both for sure. Janice Rogers Brown seems to fit that bill nicely. It would be hard for our guys to oppose her without having it spun against them as well.

7. Priscilla Owens
would give Bush the big fight he probably wants right now. It would get all the other bad news oiff the front pages.

9. RW sources on the internets are claiming she took herself out
of consideration.

Otherwise that would have been my guess too.

I think the conventional wisdom that he wouldn't nominate someone like Janice Rogers Brown or Owen because he doesn't want a huge fight in the Senate are completely wrong. What he needs right now is a fight to distract everyone from his troubles at home and abroad, and to solidify his base. Throwing some real red meat at them like that would accomplish this goal.

17. Sorry...
I just figured the Dim Son was going to try to re-write the GOP's legacy. I guess he's doing that already (to its detriment).
