1. A gentleman and a scholar
I respect him greatly. I had the pleasure of meeting him and hearing him speak in 1975 when he was merely an ex-governor of Georgia.

I'm proud to have voted for him twice.

3. A simple Georgia guy
We won't ever see another President like that. One of the regular people IMO.

6. Very charismatic when he was sweeping the primaries in 1975...
I saw him at UCLA and realized later that I'd seen him when he was first running for governor (he lost), circa 1966 in Athens, Ga. Due to a twist of fate, I was there in Plains when he returned for Election night in 1976. Carter would have been an effective President if the Republican machine weren't poised to kill all the people's candidates. And they didn't go after him the way they did Clinton, bound and determined to destroy a good government.

7. Happy Birthday, President Carter!
He is an ex-president of MERIT...shunned by the current administration which is, in my opinion, a badge of honor!

9. Happy Birthday, indeed. You rock, P.C.
Hmmmm. Somehow, I'd forgotten that he was one of our only Libra presidents.

10. Carter - the man who tried hard to get democracy going in the mid-east.
The man who told the Shaw to start with democratic reform. Too bad Reagan won that election. Too, too bad.
