Gen. Abizaid on Meet The Press
Paraphrasing:

"I believe if we stay the course, as the political process continues, as the Iraqi security forces continue being trained, we will win the war in Iraq."

:puke:

There is no way to "win" Iraq. It's a no-win situation.

1. I guess Abizaid is trying to avoid what befell Gen. Shinseki.
In BushWorld, if you tell the truth you lose your job. Lie, get a promotion.

2. That's what leads me to believe that....
the only way to wake up this administration and the American people is for every top-ranking general to resign effective immediately.

3. will Sleezy Wittle Timmy apologize for his behavior last week?
I might drop in to watch Abizaid - just to see the latest revision and version of the official lies.

4. I watched this A.M. His body language ...
Says it All. Eye contact, shifting, blinking eyes, and he looks off in the distance, most of the time. He is on Face the Nation now, and has the same body language. Here is my quote, "I must support the President or I will be canned"!

If you weed through the weasle words, you actually could find some truth: the insurgency is completely dependant on the political situation, they are not sure what levels of US troops they should have in there going forward, there is no end in sight to this "war".

(edited for spelling)

6. I think he needs 1 or 2 more lapel pins....

9. Well, that's disappointing
It was always my understanding that generals and other military types were heavily grounded in reality, talking about tactics, training, and strategy. Abizaid is now blabbering about how he "believes" that "if" we stay whatever the course is, and if the political process (which mostly seems preoccupied with people on one side blowing up people perceived to be on the other side) continues, then, wonder of wonders and miracle of miracles, we will "win" the war.

It seems extraordinarily dangerous to me that someone that delusional is one of the main persons in charge of things.

10. It is the nature of the new and improved DOD
You must be a lapdog of Rummie, and NEVER EVER go off the approved message.

I just hope we do not have a real conflict imposed on us by a real enemy. This Iraq thingie is a conflict we started, and we should finish it ASAP by leaving.

12. don't sell rummie rum rum short.
He has an axe longer than most woodsmen and his favorite target is not in your face, as he and his PR crew carefully promote, but in your back, when you least suspect it. (Nixon had major misgivings about his ethics and behavior - Nixon on ETHICS! no less)

rummie is in control - with all of the resulting problems we face, which includes Abu Grhaib.
