WASHINGTON, September 14, 2005 (STAR) By Jose Katigbak, STAR Washington bureau - Cashiered police Senior Superintendent Michael Ray "Ninoy" Aquino, wanted for murder in the Philippines, has been arrested in New Jersey on charges of espionage.
The Philippines does not have an extradition request for Aquino, said Michael Drewniak, a spokesman for the US Attorney’s Office.
Federal Bureau of Investigation agents arrested Aquino, an aide of Sen. Panfilo Lacson when he was Philippine National Police chief, along with
Filipino-American Leandro Aragoncillo, an FBI intelligence analyst and former US Marine, for allegedly stealing "highly classified" material stored in computers at an FBI office.
