1. Had to go with "other".
I see Lieberman has the most votes, but I find him utterly trustworthy - he can be counted on to do the wrong thing every time. I don't trust Biden or Reid much, or Clinton, either. It's hard to say who's the LEAST trustworthy.

2. Sorry to be negative, but
your poll stinks. I find everyone on your list to be more trustworthy than the most trustworthy repub. Dean is untrustworthy? Sometimes politicians must appeal to a broader base than just our side.

3. No need to apologize, FSogol, you're entitled to your "IMHO"
Edited on Thu Oct-06-05 05:29 AM by Montauk6
I just listed key Dems (and I do have a corresponding poll for the other side, just so you know) who generate the most critical discussion here; I have my own opinion but I try not to vote in my own polls. That anyone is on the list (and I do include "Other," don't forget) is no comment, in and of itself, on their trustworthiness.

And, if it's any consolation, and I know there are many DUers who'd back me up on this, I've posted much stinkier polls/posts.

4. Lieberman is trustworthy - you can generally know wat he'll vote
Reid, on the contrary, is not.

7. How is 'knowing how they'll vote' be considered 'untrustworthy'
At least with Lieberman I know exactly what he is all about and to be honest, the man has also been a big ally with the Environment and Women's Issues includng the filibusters.

What I find untrustworthy is some guy like Feingold who is trying to come off as a friend to us liberals and then he turns around not once but TWICE to support radical Bush nominees to high positions - John Ashcroft and John Roberts. To me - that is untrustworthy. Here I am thinking that we can rely on Feingold on that Judiciary Committee to work with the team when these radicals come to light. Hell at least I know my senator Joe Biden is reliable as the sun each morning when it comes to this issue.

We should really consider what the meaning of trust is all about. Because if I know someone is going to vote a certain way time and time again at least I'll be smart enough not to put all my belief into him/her on certain issues.

Feingold has absolutely 'NO TRUST' in my book. If you're going to play one roll don't go turning around and doing something completely against that roll you're trying to play. He has broken my heart twice when it comes to judicial matters (something very high on my list of importance - like #1).

9. I agre with you, except that anybody knowing Feingold would have known
what he was going to vote. Feingold has expressed again and again that he thought a president should have his choice- I disagree with him, but I was not exactly surprised to see this vote.

10. Then he needs to be off the Judiciary committee
Democrats don't just throw anyone on that committee. If you notice, there are no anti-choice democrats on it. They are people who realize that administrations can and will try and put unqualifed, zealots in judicial-related positions.

Anyone who believes that presidents including ones who illegally gained their position have the right to have whomever they want in their administration and on their courts have no right to be on that judiciary committee. We need people who will ask the questions and vote "NO" if the situation warrents that the person is not qualifed to be in that position.

Maybe Feingold's best interest could be better served on another committee. His justification for Ashcroft was lame when 10 other democrats found Ashcroft not qualifed. And Feingold's vote broke the tie which might have made a difference in Ashcroft getting that position.

And btw, Patriot Act was Ashcroft's baby. Maybe the reason Feingold was the only one who voted against it was because he realized he helped put Ashcroft in his position of Attorney General

12. I don't think that's the explanation of Feingold's vote.
He has made that statement with respect to administration officials, not judges. He has voted against judicial nominees in the past, including Owen and Rogers Brown.

He felt that Roberts was a well-qualified nominee who would make decisions based on law rather than ideology. He won't vote for Miers, who is clearly not qualified for the Supreme Court.

6. Hey, where's Feingold, I'm voting for him!!!
At least I can trust Biden to vote against extremist judges. Feingold will allow anyone to serve and I find that especially distrusting.

You don't trust Joe Biden - guess what, what you see is what you get. But here's Feingold all Mr "I don't support the Patriot Act and I'm the only one voting against it". Well where was your vote against Ashcroft? Where was your vote against Roberts? You're just going to rubberstamp any Bush judicial appointee??

At least I know what I get with any of those senators listed above INCLUDING Joe Lieberman. Trust is when you think you know what they're going to do and they turn around and do something completely different!

8. Trust?
Completely?.... Not any of them. They are all politicians. You can't trust any of them, and put yourself and your family at risk if you do. If it comes down to viability/re-election or your welfare, your welfare is toast. That's politics in this day and age. There is no more standing up for what's right (unless the focus groups or polls tell you it's safe or beneficial.) There is no more doing the right thing, no matter the political cost to the politician.

So, answer: I don't trust any of them as far as I could throw them. I'm disgusted, on the whole, with the entire Party and their lack of fight. But, of the list you gave there were two that I distrust the most: Hillary and Joementum. I flipped a coin, and Joementum got my vote, but I distrust Hillary as much, and in some ways, more than Joe. As Mass so astutely pointed out -- at least you know what Joe's vote will be almost every time. Hillary is the one I am really keeping my eye on...

11. Biden
Because he acts all bombastic and slang-y and big-shot, but then votes for Bushco policies. E.g., the credit card bill.
