Al Gore's speech at Media Center-10-05-05 (audio and text)
Reports are that this is a good speech. I'm still listening to it and so far, so good.

1. I listened to it last night before leaving work. Enjoy!
Maybe being in exile from Washington DC has helped Gore. His speeches since 2000 have been superb.

2. Proof of the devaluation of print (unintentional irony)

There is this sentence in Gore's speech.

""I have sworn upon the alter of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man."

The person who typed the speech either used a spell check or does not know that the correct spelling for the word in this sense is "altar."
I find that strangely ironic and sad given what Gore speaks about in this speech.

Also this typo in a quote later in the speech --
"Our democracy has been hallowed out," when what is meant is hollowed.

I doubt either are actually typos since the keys for "e" and "a" are far apart as are the keys for "a" and "o".

3. It was a long speech. I'll forgive two typos.
This from typist with dyslexic fingers! I frequently mix up my hands when typing - I'll hit a 'k' when a 'd' is meant, etc.
:hi:

4. Never!!!
OK, maybe sometimes.

I don't think they were typos though since they are actual misspellings or more precisely, homonyms.

Of course I am a professional proofreader so I tend to notice these things even if I make mistakes sometimes also.
