I need advice on how to spend my campaign contributions

I saw on a recent post that Casey is kicking santorum's ass. My senator up for reelection in 2006 is trent lott. I do not mean to be pessimistic but I doubt trent will lose his seat; too many zealots and klansmen in this state. So instead of spending my money on a, most likely, losing cause, I'm contemplating "adopting" a potential winning Democratic candidate. Casey kicking santorum's ass would be good for the country and if I could be a very small part of that ass whipping I'd be even happier.

Feedback is requested. Maybe we can adopt those most likely to defeat republicans even if they are not in our state. I'm not throwing in the towel yet, but I just don't see lott losing; however as a retired veteran I will have a few bucks to toss about to defeat every republican I can next year.

Casey webpage I might bookmark for future reference? BTW I was born in Philadelphia as a Navy brat. I lived there when Spector was the Prosecutor. I used to get into Philly games at Old Connie Mack Stadium for free after the third inning. We lived six blocks from there.

That's his campaign website. He's not my ideal candidate but I think he has a real chance of taking down Rick plus I would rather have him as my junior Senator than Governor of my state.

Not sure when you lived in PA but do you remember Casey's father as Governor of PA in the 80's?

In the early 60's I was a Navy brat in Philly. As a Sailor myself, I was stationed at the Navy Yard in Philly 86-89. I do remember Governor Casey although I was not a state resident at that time. Thanks for the website. I'll get on their mailing list.

Casey may not be ideal but compared to ricky he is solid gold.

Rumors are that Lott will be retiring. I don't see why he wouldn't. Hopes in Mississippi would be based on a run by Michael Moore, but rumors about him posted by Mississippians here on DU are that there are some skeletons in the closet.

I wouldn't give the big bucks to incumbent Democrats either. They're not facing serious competition, they've spent six years getting their buddies' and corporate cash, and they're looking at the closest thing to free rides they're going to get should Republicans tank any further (which is looking inevitable imho).

If I had the money, which sadly I don't, to put in Senate campaigns I think I would consider the best places to put it the campaigns of Amy Knobluchar, Jon Tester, Jack Carter, and/or Claire McCaskill. Maybe Sherrod Brown's or Paul Hackett's once it's clear which of them will be the Ohio nominee.

My biases are that I think grassroots money is not a serious factor in the success or failure of Casey, Cardin, the New England challengers, the likely appointee in New Jersey, or Pedersen. I personally can't muster any enthusiasm for Harold Ford or Mark Warner at this point but, independent of that, still see the Tennessee and Virginia electorates ultimately just barely holding out from electing Democrats- giving Republicans mandate-free squeaker wins- one last time next November.

My impression is that the Florida governor race could be the one big opportunity for real Democratic power recovery in the South. Maybe one or two House seats in southern Florida can or will be won. But it's very murky at the moment and superficially looks good for Republicans.

Every time Dean said something that made the pubs squeal, I sent the DNC money. But since Claire McCaskel (Missouri) announced for Senate, she now gets a monthly donation. She has a good shot at beating Talent - a right wing whack job, whose only been in for four years. Your money could help turn Missouri blue again.
