My commuting wife just called me
She travels to and from Long Island to Manhatten everyday and only gets to spend about an hour with our 4 and 2 year old children.

Seeing our kids for that short amount of time on weekdays tears her apart, but she deals with it.

She said there is "some kind of terror warning on the subway" and she may be late getting home tonight. With a crack in her voice she said it's ok if the kids are too tired and in bed when she gets home.

I told her the terror warning is all bullshit because bush and Rove need a diversion from the upcoming indictments and the boy king just gave a speech.

She got really mad and said, "He's fucking wagging the dog again! That evil son of a bitch!"

I'm going to try to keep the kids up.

I hope that fucker gets impeached.

1. I hope so, too.
And I hope your wife gets home at a reasonable hour tonight.

2. I'm with you, buddy.

my husband commutes from Hoboken, NJ and I used to commute myself (now I work PT from home) and totally relate to the trauma these motherfuckers have inflicted and continue to inflict on NYers and commuters in the tri-state area.

I called to tell him about the TERRA warning and he sounded exhausted.

So sorry for your wife and your family.

4. I know you reassured her; none of us are really
believing they're actually working from any valid intelligence.

5. Bush and company wag the dog? No! Only Clinton ever did that!
/sarcasm

That term was all over the place during the Clinton administration. How come we never hear it used in a "mainstream" forum these past 5 years? Shrub and company's wagging the dog has had much more devastating consequences than Clinton's supposed wagging ever did.

11. That damn Clinton. I'd forgotten about that. All that garbage about
some Bin-Something fellow and how dangerous he was. Just trying to divert us from the stained dress, that's all. At least that little Klein feller made fortune out of his book making fun of him.

6. You are a great co-parent!
In case the kids are really tired (and short naps don't work) maybe they could draw special pictures and your wife could leave them special notes for the morning.

I remember reading a wonderful story about a mom in a similar situation who would write a special message for each school-aged child and put it in their lunch box everyday. Sometimes nothing longer than, "I love YOU!" Mom never heard much from the kids about the notes, they seemed to take them for granted. The week before her older child was headed to college she overheard a conversation between her kids and walked into their bedroom to see them seated on their beds with stacks of notes around them reading them aloud to each other -- they had saved 100's of them.

This story is not meant to take away from your anger that our country has had such a decline in living standards for families that parents who would like to have part-time jobs cannot afford to do so. When I was a kid my father's middle-class salary was double what we needed to pay mortgage, groceries, and other basic necessities.

8. Credibility of source in question says MSNBC
The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter.

Some officials told NBC News that they doubt the credibility of the threat. The source has apparently given some accurate information in the past, and some inaccurate, and there are reasons, they say, to doubt this new information.

10. Oklahoma
Oddly, we have this, presumably fake alert, yet something that really reeks in Oklahoma.

I just heard about this (sister goes to OSU), and others may not have, but a student blew himself outside the game. According to my sister:

1. A student blew himself up just outside of the KST game, on the first day of Ramadan. He was white and had recently converted to Islam. He had serious emotional issues. This is exactly the kind of guy terrorists prey on and feed their B.S. to (emotionally unstable and fits no profile).

2. He went to the same mosque as Zacarias Mousaoui (who also was not exactly stable). Allegedly, this is not a mosque "normal" muslims go to. A bit like a rattlesnake-handling Baptist church, to give a comparable.

3. He used "Mother of Satan" explosive, which was what the London Bombers used.

4. His apartment contained more explosives. He tried to buy amonium nitrate (OK city bomb material) recently. His apartment also contained materials from Islamic Jihad (who spam muslims, BTW, so take that for what it is worth).

5. His roomate is from Pakistan --- there is something about a ticket to Algeria that his roomate bought. The roomate has been investigated by the FBI, cut loose, and has (perhaps wisely) gotten the heck out of Dodge.

6. New rumor --- the bomber had a ticket to the game and was seen refusing a search of his bag.

I am deeply curious why this has not been a big media event. The message on campus has been "nothing to see here, just a deranged kid."

I suspect the Bushies want to keep stating "no terrorists attacks in our borders since 9/11."

14. No memory hole!
We really should not let the Bushies get away with it; although I am uncertain how to do anything about it.

I am quite convinced it has to do with keeping their supposed perfect "no attacks" record talking point.

Makes them look like they are doing something as they strip us of our rights.
