Shameful Spectacle: Bush in Video Conference with Troops in Iraq
Edited on Thu Oct-13-05 09:04 AM by ElectroPrincess
Am I just jaded, or is this one of the most shamefully orchestrated PR stunt for "Dear Leader"? It's on all the Corporate Cable news channels now LIVE. :puke:

Every time Bush opens his mouth something insensitive if not completely INANE comes out. This is the worst President that this country has ever had to endure. I pray this nightmare of King George's tyrannical rule comes to an end soon.

28. Question. Many posters are saying he's drunk.
Since I'm not watching, can you elaborate? I believe it, but what signs is he showing?

31. Kicking my own post.
How is he acting like a drunk? I didn't see this, and I'd like to know what he's doing that makes so many people think it's clear. Are we almost at Public Breakdown Time?

This is astounding.....of a badness rarely seen in public life...
...we are witnessing a presidential meltdown.
....the troops should be forgiven; they're being used as convenient props but Bush can't even get that right.
....did he even read his script before he went out there? It sure as hell seems not!

This looks so staged, like something Bush would think of on his own. Is Rove on the outs?

11. Staged is right
I only saw the last minute or two, but it seemed so insincere and scripted it was disturbing. Like watching a B movie with really bad acting.

20. That's what I was thinking, too. Horrible acting
and his phony accent sounded worse than usual. The troops seemed to be made of wood. I've seen better acting in grade school plays.

32. Me too
but this uber patriotic, "the troops love him" bullsh*t is classic Hughes....

remember the article about her (wish I had bookmarked it) that said when she sees GWB, she pictures him walking down a flag-studded hall with Stars and Stripes Forever playing in the background.

I think of that everytime one of these embarrassing photo-ops goes down.

34. She absolutely was
At least on CNN, they joked beforehand. They commented on how the soldiers had been busy studying their "impromptu" answers. I was almost pissed that they bothered to air it, but I think it's a good thing they did, as it was just one more illustration of the Chimpster's desperation, and lack of ability to handle even the most basic of presidential tasks; a conversation!

That woman who did most of the speaking..."I thought I recka-nized you!" said Chimpy. Oh, year, right...was she in a liquor ad someplace? Her bit was so carefully spoken. No one uses language like that, or speaks like that.

Good god, did they think anyone was buying that bullshit? At least they should have hired better actors!

"I LIKE YOU! I-RAK BEEN BERRY BERRY GOOOOD TO ME"

I'm awestruck.

The Iraq guy saying "I like you," then handing back the mic...he was so obviously told to do that. Why else would the mic have passed so quickly? He knew his part of the script was over, he didn't even wait for a response.

I'm gonna be sick.

You hear that sound? It's the rest of the planet laughing at us.

MSNBC "Chris" and "Jim" from the WaPo mentioned right away about the scripted BS and if the US would still buy this stunt. FAUX news quickly moved to the next story.

19. How pathetic
I just walked over to the mailroom/lounge where I work and heard, as I checked mail, his choppy, hesitating, blathering about the noble effort against cold-blooded evil terrorists or some such crap. This guy is a freakin' basket case. I turned the TV off on my way out the door. Yuk!

Was it Smirky struggling mightily to just read a few simple questions given to him to read or was it the over the top commentary by the corporate media whores describing the Q and A?

23. Bush sounded very bad...
...even for him. With practice, he seems to be able to maker a decent speech now and then...this wasn't it. So, I don't see how they'll be able to use any of it for sound bites.

The soldiers in Iraq were calm even though they face risk every minute. Bush, in the safety of his office and surrounded by armed guards looked like a nervous wreck, ready to lose it any minute.

He ended by saying that he'd like to go to Tikrit someday...when everything is different and safe.

36. Are We Sure The Soldiers Were In Iraq?...
They could have been staged out in the desert in California. They looked too polished for fighting troops.

Remember - they had transmission troubles and this photo-op got going later than expected. Do you think they were trying to make us think it was coming from Iraq and staged the transmission troubles?

I watched this and it was sad. To see our troops used in this fashion to prop up a failure. If this wasn't so serious of a situation it would be hysterical.

37. Good question...
...but it wouldn't be too hard to get a group of soldiers to do this. Like in school...any boring assembly would be better than being in class. It would be a little more than suspicious if the "I like you..." guy showed up on the next episode of "Two and a Half Men"!

I'm so sad about the whole thing. I really want things to go good for the Iraqis...they deserve it. I just don't think that war is the answer...ever.
