Iraqis apprehend two Americans disguised as Arabs trying to detonate bomb

"A number of Iraqis apprehended two Americans disguised in Arab dress as they tried to blow up a booby-trapped car in the middle of a residential area in western Baghdad on Tuesday.

Residents of western Baghdad’s al-Ghazaliyah district told Quds Press that the people had apprehended the Americans as they left their Caprice car near a residential neighborhood in al-Ghazaliyah on Tuesday afternoon (11 October 2005). Local people found they looked suspicious so they detained the men before they could get away. That was when they discovered that they were Americans and called the Iraqi puppet police.

Five minutes after the arrival of the Iraqi puppet police on the scene a large force of US troops showed up and surrounded the area. They put the two Americans in one of their Humvees and drove away at high speed to the astonishment of the residents of the area."

12. No way, it's about as believable as US agents kidnapping in, say, Italy.
Hey, wait. We DID that too.

of all of the ineffable, inane and insane things to do. To create a bomb, claim it was someone else AND to be prepared to kill innocent Iraqis simply for political points, THIS IS ABSOLUTELY CRAZY.

17. he needs to concoct an event, so bloody and evil, and so newsworthy that
he can do the following:

a) replay it over and over, proving that there are terra-ists over there
b) we have to stay the course
c) I'm a resolute, brave bleader
c) Just listen to this speech, Cheney. See, i CAN do it on my own.

If children and moms died, so much the better.

Are they that craven, evil and murderous? My answer is, in a word, yes. Their backs are up against the wall. All they know is that when Bush appeared presidential after 9/11, he was wildly supported. They will do anything, well, almost, to recreate that moment and momentum.

26. I'm willing to believe almost anything about Bush, but
how would this help him? Bush has been taking a pounding lately because the war in Iraq is going so badly. By exploding a bomb, it would: provoke even more hatred among Iraqis, show that we're not in controlof Iraq, show the Iraqi police aren't able to stop it, & the US can't stop the insurgents. All this would do is make Bush more unpopular, if it's noticed at all. Most bombings get at most a brief mention in the news. So why would the "CIA/Bushbots" create an event that makes Bush look even worse? I don't buy it.

36. Helps him by making Iraqis feel they need the US to protect them.
If there is enough chaos and RANDOM bombing in Iraq (not attacks against US troops and 'collaborator' Iraqi troops, but against random markets, schools, . . .), then Iraqis will buy into American 'protection' and turn against the legitimate resistance. IMO

and the Middle East, when what he wants is exactly the opposite, more chaos and destruction. It's all part of the PNAC plan to destabilize the ME and to have endless war.

57. If we did, we would approach the border towns totally differently.
several retired military officers were having conference at a local univ. (OK it was extremely religious, and everyone including the military prayed before and after - except mois). Their point was that we go in with guns blazing, even in places that are/were/could be supportive of eventual peace and prosperity, even with US help and presence.
But we are so violent and destructive, on top on being unable to communicate, not even trying, really, that we effectively shoot ourselves in the foot.
Two of the speakers were back from their tours and had "retired", one after he complained about tactics to his superiors.

The oil is in the north (Kurds, Turkomen - where the water also comes from, BTW) and in the south (Shias). The Sunni centre has fewer natural resources.

But, never forget that, while Sunni Islam is in the minority in Iraq (and in Iran) they are the majority in the Moslem world as a whole.

just did some poking around on the databases - it seems to have been around since 18 March 2004 and is hosted out of Moscow.

Never seen this site before - thanks for the link.

<edit> The site attracted the wrath of a r/w site as of September this year. And, the hosting company does not appear to be mainstream - report of dodgy financial company being hosted by them - that does not discredit the host but suggests they ain't part of the msm set-up.

52. US military tactics in Iraq
have been suspect all along; battering down doors and hauling people away to torture prisons, killing indiscriminately at road blocks and all those other abominations not connected with 'conventional' warfare. These tactics are reminiscent of past Europian occupation of conquered countries in the Mideast and Africa.

20. very dubious source
Reading through the entire report, and clicking on the link for the reporter, its pretty obvious that these reports emanate from a site with a clear bias -- not neutral reporting. The reports of the number of US military killed in action today have not been reported by any other news source. I'm assuming that if I checked back over time, there wouuld be similar reports and if you added them up there would be far more US casualties than have been reported -- and far more than could ever be "hidden".

The site seems to be a mixed bag, I wouldn't characterize most of the articles as "virulently over the top anti-semetic and openly spewing propaganda," although you can certainly find some posts by Zion-conspiracy nutcases (particulary comments).

But, more to the point, I suspected before, and I'm becoming a lot more suspicious, that some of the carbombs, (particularly those which are not suicide bombs) may have been done by agents whose identitiesmotives are not what we are led to believe.

Don't worry, If it turns out later I'm right, I won't bother saying "I told you so" . . . I will be too busy puking.

(on edit) Specifically, they may be designed to sew/aggravate divisions as a means of defeating resistance.

It doesn't pertain to the original post...or does it?

"...Covert Action operations are often Disinformation Operations, which are conducted in such a way as to discredit the opposition or the enemy. This is done, for example, by doing a violent action, such as a bombing, but making it look like the forces of another country or group did it. Such operations are sometimes called False-Flag Operations, meaning that the operation is conducted to make it look like it was done by people serving under another flag, preferably the enemy’s flag. If the operation succeeds as designed, people will blame the action on the wrong party (the enemy). Thus, public opinion will be won over to the side that actually did the killing. Such false-flag, covert action operations are often referred to as Dirty Tricks."

30. Will Democrats call for an investigation of this incident ???
this is what's missing in the national dialog ... the story might be true (it probably is) or it might be false ...

but where is the press?? where is the oversight by Congress?? where is the truth being told to the American people and the rest of the world??

and where is America's opposition Party???

is it OK for bush and the neo-cons to manufacture "the truth" we are told?? what exactly is America's objective in Iraq?? are we there to destabilize the country?? are we there to distort an honest vote on the Constitution by falsifying the image of the insurgency??

if Democrats refuse to even insist on the US having some integrity and being honest brokers, what value are they??

Democrats do not need to give creedence to this story until more is known ... but they should call for a full investigation ... if the truth is being covered up, democracy cannot function ... and Democrats should not be tolerant of that ...

there's no need for all oversight to be public oversight ... in this case, the source's reliability should first be evaluated ...

Another explosion would not help Bush in any way. However, circulating this story WOULD help the insurgents to gain sympathy with other Arabs.

Looking at the other stories on the site and the references to "puppet" police and "puppet" minister, I think this story is a plant.

I wouldn't put ANYTHING past Bush and he may even be guilty of LIHOP, but this story smells - it just doesn't add up.

61. Is this the third time that we know about? Twice with Americans and once
with Brits? How many of the car bombs have been done by US troops or the mercenaries? How many of the beheadings were done by them to keep their war on?

63. just curious
Weren't those beheadings done by people whose faces were fully covered with black masks? Which means the only people who would know who they were, were the ones doing it, and the ones who ordered it done..
Do we think, that this admin wouldn't give the go ahead for these types of actions? Think Abu Graib/Guantanamo...still have doubts?
Then remember there were no WMD..Saddam was NOT a threat...Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11...so what was the purpose for us invading? and no, sorry, I don't buy into Liberation of Iraqi's...
Perhaps it's not a reliable site...but...perhaps we wouldn't know the truth if/when we saw it either....
Someone knows what's going on over there...but someone isn't telling us..the truth seems to be missing from every situation these days..
I say, don't disregard this article..no matter what else has been posted on that site..
Someone needs to find out, if there is any basis in fact, to the story.. well, hell, they already know, they just don't want us too..
