The funniest thing about the Miers nomination
On the Daily Show several weeks ago, Jon had a clip of Bush sitting at the table with his cabinet members discussing the nomination process (this is before he chose Miers) and he made some sly comment about who he might chose as he was looking directly at Alberto Gonzalez.

Jon said something along the lines of Gonzalez must be getting his hopes up and if Bush doesn't choose him, then he's just being a complete ass to Gonzalez.

As it turns out, Bush really was being a complete dick to Alberto! You know he wanted the appointment, he practically campaigned for it prior to the Roberts' nomination. :D

1. I flashed back to that snippet when Miers was announced.
I wondered how Gonzalez was handling being passed over for a second time.

3. The Gonzalez factor is how I know Dobson is lying
We ALL know Gonzalez wanted the appointment. There is no way he would have willingly taken his own name off the list...assuming he was ever on the list.

4. That's what blind loyalty gets you with bush..........
he's got all of his toadies in a row and they'd probably die for this cretin. But how does bush reward this blind loyalty? Oh sure, he'll give you a position or two to reward you but don't get your hopes too high. There are many more brown-nosed sycophants waiting to be rewarded as well and the next thing you know.... SHAZAM! You're cut off and left adrift. Gonzalez WAS lobbying for the SC seat, he could TASTE it, he thought he had it in the bag. But quicker than you can say "bush crony" Gonzalez was pushed to the back of the bus in favor of some other fawning bush ass kisser.
Everything about this administration is so fucking disgusting, EVERYTHING! I can find no redeeming quality from this gang of thugs, not one.

5. Must be low self-esteem.
All of these * butt-kissers standing in line waiting for stupidface to appoint them to something. Sickening.

9. I think that's probably just the way of the world.
Promoted, appointed, cast, chosen, hired.

A bank, a church, a theater, an office, a factory.

6. There is some thought that Miers has been set up to make way for Gonzales
The idea is that Miers would be set up to get shot down, and then Bush nominates Gonzales who is not loved by the conservatives, but is more obviously qualified, per se. I don't think it would work now, however, in the current climate now that Bush has nosedived and conservative rats are leaving the ship.

7. If this is their strategy, then it backfired big time
the Republican party is revolting over Miers and I can't see the Evangelicals compromising over Gonzalez now. Many thought they compromised already on accepting Roberts. I wonder if anyone believes Dobson's BS that other candidates took their name off the list.

11. Yep. Gonzales goes in real easy after Miers.
This is the only thing that has ever made sense to me.

10. I remembered that bit too.
"Either he's going to pick Alberto Gonzales ... or he's being a complete dick to Alberto Gonzales!"

Join the club, Alberto Gonzales. :P

12. Gonzales isn't out of the running yet.
Especially if Miers' nomination is withdrawn.
