Gov. Vilsack to endorse Kerry
Vilsack Endorses Kerry
Kerry Picks Up Endorsements From Iowa Governor, S.C. Lawmaker

POSTED: 11:08 AM CST January 28, 2004
UPDATED: 11:17 AM CST January 28, 2004

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Officials say Gov. Tom Vilsack will endorse John Kerry for president Wednesday as his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination continues to gain strength.

Vilsack stayed neutral leading up to last week's Iowa caucus, which Kerry won. But the governor's wife, Christie Vilsack, endorsed the Massachussets senator and campaigned with him around the state.

Vilsack aides say the governor will travel to Missouri later today to make the endorsement.

After winning the New Hampshire primary last night, Kerry was picking up another key endorsement from South Carolina Rep. Jim Clyburn, the most prominent black politician in that state.

2. Way to be relevant in your own state's caucuses
Kerry could have won even bigger if Vilsack had endorsed before the Iowa Caucuses.

4. Christie Vilsack
his wife's endorsement right before the caucuses were basically that, I think, without him getting directly involved in the process.

5. More rats jumping onto a sinking ship
It's sad that the so-called establishment seems willing to rally behind a candidate with such limited potential for the general election. Rather than giving serious thought about who could best conmpete against Bush, they just want to get the primary process over with. But it won't be long before we are all reminded of why Kerry was considered dead in the water just a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, by then we'll be stuck with him.
