why you should support Clark over Lieberman, Kerry & Edwards
Edited on Wed Jan-28-04 01:42 PM by teevee99
He took three days off of the campaign trail to go to the Hague and testify against Milosovic, who is now in prison and will never harm another human being again.

Lieberman, Kerry and Edwards couldn't even find the time to go vote against the omnibus bill that, amongst other things, took overtime rights away from millions of Americans.

This is why Wes Clark will be the person I support. He has his priorities in order and they're NOT egocentric.

Since Dean is my second choice, I'll just add that knowing him, He would have gone to vote against that bill, because he's not a Washington Lifer, and he really cares about Americans.

3. You don't sound like you know Kerry.
This is what he was doing in Washington while others bemoan the fact that he was even IN Washington, never enlightening their audiences about whatKerry was doing there.

Kerry was ostracized by most of Washington for his dogged investigations.

Kerry and the Iran-Contra Fight
Before the conventional wisdom sets in on Kerry as some kind of careful pol with no bite, folks should reach back and remember his role back in the 1980s in challenging the whole Reagan administration ties to money laundering, drug running and the Contras down in Central America. Kerry was willing for years to face down the CIA, the Justice Department and narco-terrorists in pursuing the dirty dealings of the Reagan-North network of rightwing drug-linked paramilitaries.

10. He was busy winning Iowa.
If you KNEW Kerry's record you wouldn't be so quick to nitpick.

Kerry has the most progressive record of all the candidates. His ratings are closest to Wellstone's. You have a problem with that?

13. I do if he's missing voting on bills that affect my family
because he's too busy looking out for himself.

Look, his job is as a Senator. He's not doing his job. Period.

Millions of Americans depend on overtime for money as well as a check on overbearing employers. John Kerry missed his chance to stand up for us because he was standing up for himself.

It's called accountability and responsibility.

14. nitpick? how dare you call it "nitpick"!!!
People got their heads bashed in in order to give me overtime pay and the 40 hour work week.

What Kerry did was a disgrace:mad:

6. Kucinich
Edited on Wed Jan-28-04 02:25 PM by abburdlen
I haven't looked too closely at Leiberman, Kerry or Kucinich voting records since they started their campaign but as I NC resident I have looked at Edwards record and it has be terrible.

edited: removed statements about Kucinich's voting records after it was pointed out that in fact he has kept up on his duties as an elected offical

7. Kucinich has been trying his damnedest not to miss a vote
I don't know if he's succeeded (I know he was 100% a while ago). He even missed a debate and other appearances because of it. I remember he got slammed by one advocacy group (NAACP maybe?) for missing an appearance, until someone stepped in and pointed out that he missed the appearance because he was doing his job (and, IIRC, actually debating or voting on a bill important to the advocacy group).

Like I said I haven't looked closely at anyone but Edwards record. I'm glad Kucinich is taking his job seriously

12. Just to be completely honest
The Trial Chamber II issued General Clark a subpoena to testify at the trial. He could not have avoided it, even if he had wanted to.

15. I must assume you don't know the facts about the omnibus vote
Edited on Wed Jan-28-04 02:11 PM by Feanorcurufinwe
These are the votes that mattered, the cloture votes:

Tuesday, rejected(which is good): http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=108&session=2&vote=00001

Thursday, passed (bad): http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=108&session=2&vote=00002

The swing voters who went over to the dark side between Tuesday and Thursday:

Bingaman (D-NM)
Breaux (D-LA)
Carper (D-DE)
Dayton (D-MN)
Feinstein (D-CA)
Harkin (D-IA)
Inouye (D-HI)
Landrieu (D-LA)
Leahy (D-VT)
Mikulski (D-MD)
Nelson (D-NE)
Reid (D-NV)
Schumer (D-NY)

if you want to blame somebody for this, these are the people to blame

Final passage: http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=108&session=2&vote=00003

16. Lieb, Kerry and Edwards
are the ones asking for your and my vote, not those jokers. while I agree that they deserve blame as well, I still wonder where the three "inherent party leaders" were.

You can't let them off the hook for not doing their job.

Sorry, but it's not right to shirk your reponsibilites, especially when it contributes to millions of Americans losing their rights to earn overtime benefits.

17. I wish some Democratic "leader" would take this list to the woodshed
Edited on Wed Jan-28-04 03:27 PM by cosmicdot
and, stand up to these Senators ... leadership ... where is our leadership? ...

or joining Senator Byrd in his many floor speeches against Bush*?

Bingaman (D-NM)
Breaux (D-LA)
Carper (D-DE)
Dayton (D-MN)
Feinstein (D-CA)
Harkin (D-IA)
Inouye (D-HI)
Landrieu (D-LA)
Leahy (D-VT)
Mikulski (D-MD)
Nelson (D-NE)
Reid (D-NV)
Schumer (D-NY)

There are some names above, quite frankly, I'm tired of seeing 'against' the people.
