MSNBC: Former TX justices line up, faithfully recite Miers talking points
Everything that's in the article referenced in THIS post:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=2162205&mesg_id=2162205

...is happening LIVE on MSNBC right now. They were RIGHT...it's a full-frontal "Miers was BORN to be on the Supreme Court" assault.

Former Texas court justices, assembled in Washington, are lining up for the camera like trained seals to extol the virtues and OUTSTANDING QUALIFICATIONS of Harriet Miers.

One of them said that in her current role, she has to apply COMPLEX CONSTITUTIONAL DECISIONS on a daily basis, JUST LIKE A SUPREME COURT JUSTICE WOULD.

The next one said that Bush made an EXCELLENT choice and that he could not think of a MORE QUALIFIED CANDIDATE.

Disgusting. TRULY disgusting.

2. It looks (and sounds) worse than it might from my description
...it's like that Simpsons episode about "The Leader"...scripted testimonial after scripted testimonial. A real embarrassment.

4. In order to undermine it's checks and balances "(Miers) has to apply
COMPLEX CONSTITUTIONAL DECISIONS on a daily basis"

The only reason she's considering the constitution at all is to figure out how best to bend it to Bush's will. Just like every other hack in this administration.

5. "it was much better than cats - I plan to see it again and again"
Sorry that old SNL bit came to mind reading this.

It also reminds me of the old Soviet Union when people were paraded in front of the cameras to praise a decision made by Comrade Stalin and to wonder out loud how they could help with fulfilling Comrade Stalin's vision for the fifth five year plan.

why do people want power that much that they will do this to themselves? I don't understand.

7. If there were any reporters worth a damn, they'd confront them on the call
The conference call, that is. Both of them said, flat out, that given the chance Meirs would vote to overturn Roe...

Then an unidentified voice asked the two men, "Based on your personal knowledge of her, if she had the opportunity, do you believe she would vote to overturn Roe v. Wade?"

"Absolutely," said Judge Kinkeade.

"I agree with that," said Justice Hecht. "I concur."
