Why does DU have a campaign ad for Sherod Brown on their site
I know it's a paid advertisement, but I'm not too keen on this one. First - we're still in the primary stage of the 2006 election and there are many of us who are hoping that Paul Hackett will continue his race to win the senate seat in 2006.

Hackett is the darling of the Blogosphere so this ad seems like Brown's attempt to capture some of that market.

I have no problem with the Kaine ads I've seen since Kaine is the democratic choice for the 2005 Governor election. Just a little challeged over having an add for a primary candidate this early in the game especially one that, from what I have read, wasn't going to even run for the USSenate til Hackett announced he was running and the DSCC got involved and asked Brown to run.

1. You might want to suggest that Hackett's crew buy an ad
It will help the website, and boost his name recognition.

3. Paid advertising.
Also, Brown is pretty progressive in his own right, from what I've heard from DU'ers.

Just because he's up against a possible run from Hackett is no reason for DU to favor one or the other.

I'm sure Hackett is free to advertise here as well.

4. Why not?
I mean, I'm not from there so I don't really have a dog in that fight - and it sounds like this Hackett is a great guy - BUT - the other guy IS a Democrat and isn't he entitled to buy ad time as well as another Dem candidate?

Is DU going to go into the business of endorsing particular DEM candidates? What if the admin "endorses" someone you DON'T like?

If they endorse ANY ONE they'll tick at least SOME people off.

5. Answer: Because Sherrod Brown's campaign bought it.

If Paul Hackett's campaign wishes to buy an ad, we'll gladly run it.

6. That was going to be my guess.
My theory was: You buy an ad, it gets posted. Period.
