2. What is the correct spelling of Abu Ghraib?
I've noticed that some journalists almost want to make the second word two syllables. Is there a sound in that language that isn't in English?

I remember one newscaster saying ngra-EEB with the stress on the second syllable. She did it with enough conviction that it made me curious how it was pronounced and what the words in the name of the prison mean.

12. Thank you...that was fascinating.
I also enjoyed the wikipedia article describing the alphabet. The calligraphy is astoundingly beautiful.

11. Most likely it's an accent thing. Just like the way the people in...
...Boston say Linder for Linda.

Or how Libyan President Mouamar Gadafi or Quadafi, Kadafi.

It's all Phonetic.

9. Coffer Black
is one of the main reasons that we had a 911. It was Black who pushed terrorism to the back burner, and it was Black who refused to share what he had about al Qaeda movements with the FBI.

I watched snips of this program but only snips. The entire thing made me sick. Really, physically revolted. Rumsfeld has a starring role in: The Worst People Ever To Walk The Planet. The man is a sick fuck with no redeeming human attributes. None.

10. good for feingold. . .but this is George Bush's war
Edited on Tue Oct-18-05 09:38 PM by emulatorloo
he wanted it.
he lied to congress.
he lied to the american people.
he did what it took to get it.
he hired gonalez to justify torture.

not democrats

no doubt some dems wanted an invasion (liebermann?)
other dems didn't want saddam to have nukes and wanted inspectors in.

personally I do not want to blame democrats for the george bush's war. Although I guess that what the republicans will want to do in 2006.

7. Unacceptable
Bottom line: Torture is never acceptable. Not in any circumstance. Not for any perceived benefit. No torture...ever.

8. Looking at the cells in gitmo and the torture pics,
and hearing these accounts, and knowing our soldiers wait
for Iraqi civilians to gather around a blown up humvee
before bombing them, I cannot blindly say I support the
troops.
