scary conspiracy theory re: Dick Cheney !
Dick Cheney quits (for whatever reason – be it health or the Plame affair), Jeb Bush gets the tap to fill the vacancy to replace Cheney. Then Jeb Bush gets the Republican nomination for the 2008 Presidential election or replaces George after George gets burned by the Plame affair !!!!

16. We have a spineless rubberstamping Congress that cowers at their shadow.
When have they proven differently and actually stood up to the abusers?

9. No. Just the need to get the approval of both houses of Congress.

I live in the south and I can tell you, racism and sexism are alive and well. These redneck right-wingers would commit mass suicide if the VP were a black woman! If she is single on top of that, they will be shooting each other!

As for Jeb...let's not forget that George's approval is at 39%! Nobody is going to be too excited to get another Bush in. Besides that, Jeb's record in Florida is awful....not to mention the fact that he wouldn't want his kids to get back in the news.

4. Congress has to approve of the VP
Bush will only get to nominate someone.

Such nepotism will not fly at the moment.

13. Sure, let him nominate Jeb. The public is Bushed out already,
all Jeb could do is make that worse! I think that would guarantee a Dem win in 08!

14. A local neocon talk radio show gave the scary thought
Cheney steps down (or is forcibly removed), and Dumbya appoints Condascending Lies, er, Kindasleezy Rice, er, Condaleeza Rice as VP, thus scoring a faux coup for the Repukes (the "First Black, first Woman VP" in history) and gives her the fast track for the 2008 nomination.

20. If the nominee is Condi, you're forgetting another first:
First VP who has never been elected to any public office in her life.

19. Personally...
This is exactly what I think would happen...People can say NO it won't, all they want..but..the R's control the Congress, and they just can't seem to say NO to *..ok, then the next point, people are tired of the *'s...then what's the 42% approval rate thing? Apparently not everyone sees things the way we do.
But an even scarier scenario for me, is IF he did appoint Rice, does that then frame who we would be convinced we had to run in 2008....as in Hillary?....I keep asking who's convention comes first...Dem/Rep...We nominate Hillary, because Rice is running...That doesn't mean that the R's would then nominate Rice..they could turn around and nominate Jeb...and there you have it...These bushwhackers are NOT going to give up the power they've worked so hard to get, not willingly anyway...could we be out smarted or out maneuvered??? Would we walk into that trap?
