Millionaire Republican Senator Votes Against LIHEAP and Wins $850K in Lottery
October 20th, 2005

Millionaire New Hampshire Republican Senator Judd Gregg won $853,492 in the Powerball Lottery. Gregg bought a ticket that matched five of the six numbers in the Powerball game.

Since Senator Gregg lives in N.H. and there are many people there who will need fuel assistance this winter, let me be the first to suggest that he donate that money to help out the low income and elderly, that he voted against helping today in the Senate, when the Senate once again nixed the LIHEAP amendment.

1. Gross
Senators already make far too much money, this windfall to the most undeserving of people makes me rather upset. If anyone lives in NH, write a letter or something about the joys of charity, it may soften even the blackest of the republican hearts, probably not though.

4. personally, i think senators are grossly underpaid
i think we should pay our top elected officialy a ton of money and completely BAR outside income.

someone has to own our public officials. better it be the public than corporations or 'special interests'.

2. that ought to be illegal
i think it's a terrible idea for government officials to play the lottery. i have no reason to suspect anything untoward here, but it could lead to people getting that impression.

just imagine if the governor won. or the head of the lottery commission!

3. I said this on another thread but he's the lowest form of shit right now
I don't know his constituents in our neighboring state of New Hampshire can forgive him for this horrible vote today. I hope he donates that money to a Community Help Agency to help the low income and the elderly with their fuel costs.

I despise this man right now!

6. I don't object to him winning
I object to his vote on LIHEAP. That's the whole point of my previous rant.

I couldn't care less if he plays the lottery.
