Powerful Ears Still Turning To Adviser(NYT apologists for Libby warmonger)
Powerful Ears Still Turning to Adviser

By RICHARD W. STEVENSON

Published: October 23, 2005

WASHINGTON, Oct. 22 - "In a city where proximity is power, I. Lewis Libby Jr. begins many of his days by sharing a limousine ride to work with his boss, Vice President Dick Cheney, and ends them long hours later having counseled Mr. Cheney behind the scenes on issues as diverse as the insurgency in Iraq, economic policy and prospective Supreme Court nominees.

(snip)

But friends and associates said Mr. Libby is not at heart a political animal. They suggest that whatever legal problems he faces from his role in pushing back at criticism by a former ambassador, Joseph C. Wilson IV, of the administration's use of pre-war intelligence about Iraq's weapons programs, he was acting not as a political hatchet man but in defense of ideas and policies he believed in."

(snip)

"IDEAS AND POLICIES HE BELIEVED IN"?????!???????!!!!!!!! "IDEAS AND POLICIES HE BELIEVED IN"????!!!

"Idea" he believed in: "Me and my friends are gonna rule the world. Yes, the entire world."
"Policy" he believed in: "We honestly, truly, and sincerely do not give a TINKER'S DAM how many other people we kill, or how much wealth we steal, in accomplishing our idea of world-domination-for-us-guys."

Behold Scooter Libby, "noble statesman".

Now excuse me while I go back to researching which countries would be best to emigrate to if this BASTARD does not do serious jail time.

2. So Dick Stephenson must be a friend to Scooter.
How touching. It won't matter what his reasons were or how many refer to him as "noble statesman" when the indictments rain down on his head. He will soon stand trial and be judged by a jury of his peers.

He's NOT going to wiggle away from this one.

5. He will be pardoned
They're all going to skate.

If you have any doubt, check out Gov. Fletcher in KY. What happened to him when he issued a blanket pardon to everyone in his cabinet when they were indicted?

I'll tell you what happened. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Nothing. Zero. He's still Governor.

6. That's not what I heard about Fletch. The
attorney general has now invited all those involved back to discuss the issues, under oath, so they are not wiggling free there.

Google it, it will make your weekend.

I almost can't believe I just read that. With all that's been going on at that paper- with all of the self-inflicted wounds and embarrassment, they have the gall to actually print this

OMG- all I can do is laugh. They've sunk to the level of the Post.

I wonder whether their credibility can ever be rehab'ed at this point.

Slanted copy like that belongs on the editorial page... oops, I forgot- that's a pay site now!
