Tom DeLay's laweyer donated more to Dems than the judge did
DeLay Demands New Judge Because He Donated $$ To Dems:
DeLay's Judge Gave $6,675 To Dems...
DeLay's Lawyer Gave $15,800 To Dems…

READ MORE: 2006, Tom DeLay

Politics Dick DeGuerin, Tom DeLay's hired gun, is making lots of noise about Judge Bob Perkins political donations.
http://thinkprogress.org/2005/10/21/delay-lawyer-smears-moveon/

That lead me to query the OpenSecrets.org database to see where DeGuerin has been putting his money.

It turns out that since 1992 DeGuerin had contributed $2,500 to the Democratic National Committee, $1,000 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and a total of $11,800 to six Democratic candidates including a $1,000 donation to Nick Lampson in 1996 who just happens to be running against Tom DeLay in 2006. <...>

3. RE: Tom Delay
Is he guilty? Only time will tell. Let the facts be presented. One thing is for sure he isn't very humble. As much as I want to see him go to prison I really want to see justice. Tom Delay is one example among many in our government that points toward abuses of power. Is there any chance that our country will ever see the likes of Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, et. al.? Perhaps a better question is: has there ever been an honest politician?

11. Is he guilty???
Do bears shit in the woods???

If he isn't guilty, he is mighty unlucky, seeing as all that TX corporate money that was sent to GOP HQ just happened, so unluckily, to find its way back to GOP candidates in TX. How could that boomerang effect have happened??????

20. Yes, he's guilty. Whether he's found guilty is another matter.
For all his faults--and he's virtually all faults--he's a hands-on and hardworking guy. The ONLY explanation for him being not guilty is that he didn't handle anything other than the extreme broad strokes of this particular PAC. That's just ridiculous. The whole point of setting up that PAC was to circumvent Texas law and funnel monies to individual candidates back home. That's criminality against both the letter and spirit of the law.

By pouring monies into individual races that the Democrats couldn't match legally, he gave his friends a huge advantage.

Whether it can be shown that he knew that monies went to his PAC, then to the RNC and then back to individual candidates is another matter, but his guilt is beyond obvious.

Just because someone's acquitted doesn't mean he/she didn't do the crime. There are many ways to get off; just ask OJ.

5. brilliant
Is it legal what he did? He complained about the mugshot t-shirt, then when MoveOn said there was no such t-shirt, he said, "oh, I made a mistake." Are you allowed to pull tricks like that in court?

7. I was wondering IF and when this would hit DU..
It hit one other place I frequent earlier today..but the numbers were different...makes no difference...He has a Lawyer that donates to the dems, yet protests against a judge who does...kinda ironic, isn't it...surely he knows about this.....what a hypocrit he is(among other things)..

8. This is so that when he gets convicted ...
he can appeal the verdict based on the claim that his legal defense was inadequate due to the political bias of his counsel.

12. Those moveon.org t-shirts
To my knowledge, moveon.org does not sell Tom Delay mug shot t-shirts.

DeGuerin said they did.

Is it good strategy to attack a judge with a lie at the opening of a trial?

15. My granny used to have a saying. Relax, it's not literal.
"The harder you step on a dog's tail, the louder it barks."

Sounds like it applies in this case. The rat bastard is guilty as hell.

If he really is a Democrat, then he must want to cut his wrists every night.

What gives?

26. I suppose politics shouldn't matter but wtf?
The most partisan republican crook in the country can't even find a Republican to defend him?

Oh and Dick DeGuerin is even more Democratic than the original post let on. Check the newsmeat link. He gave to the Dem congressional committee in 2002! I suppose Democrats make good lawyers, but how can he defend that piece of shit? He must be doing it for the money. Everyone has his price.
