CBS News: "The timing is about as bad as it could be for Mr. Bush"
CBS News senior White House correspondent Bill Plante reported that prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald is expected to announce as early as Monday that they are targets of his probe into who leaked the identity of CIA employee Valerie Plame. And, Plante said, lawyers in this case think it's likely there'll be some indictments before the end of the week.

---SNIP---

Rove, the president's chief political adviser, is his most influential staffer, Plante said. Fifteen years ago in Austin, Texas, Rove plotted the planning for Mr. Bush's gubernatorial race and said, "I can make him president of the United States." Rove and Libby aren't the only administration officials who face possible legal trouble, Plante said, but they're the ones who, if indicted, would be most missed at a time of deepening political problems for the president.

Republicans are already on the offensive, downplaying what could happen, Plante said. But there's already a consensus that if any of the president's senior aides are indicted then they'll have to step down. The timing is about as bad as it could be for Mr. Bush, according to Amy Walter, senior editor of "The Cook Report," a non-partisan political newsletter.

"I think the bigger story … is that this could not come at a worse time for the president. Here's the president struggling at the lowest approval ratings of his presidency, working so hard to get some traction back after a pretty disastrous September between (Hurricane) Katrina, (Supreme Court nominee) Harriet Miers, the economy, continuing frustration about Iraq, a very pessimistic public. "He needs something to be able to get himself out of these political doldrums. This certainly is not going to help." Smith pointed out that any indictments wouldn't necessarily have to involve Plame's outing. They could center on alleged obstruction of justice or perjury during the investigation into the outing.

1. Tomorrow or Wednesday is my guess.
Administration officials are supposedly being notified of the charges today.

Good news, nonetheless. At this point, any indictment will be extremely fulfilling, though the more (and the higher up), the better. :)

5. Me neither....
Maybe when the idiot breaks down on live TV and cries like the spoiled brat he is...nah...still won't feel sorry for him.

12. They will pull . . .
. . . they sympathy card as a last resort. Just remember the hundreds of thousands of shattered lives and bodies and everything this country stands for being destroyed. No sympathy needed.

3. The bigger story is that this comes at a really bad time for Bush?
Oh, poor, poor, poor, poor, George. Yes, that really eclipses the whole treason angle.

7. Oh, the timing is sooooo bad!
Bad chickens! Bad! Don't you know you weren't supposed to come home to roost for many, many months yet? Bad chickens!

Yeah, let's forget about the corruption, the lies, the perjury, the treason, the dead soldiers, the dead civilians, the squandered Treasury, the cronyism, and all the rest, and let's all have a moment of sadness and reflection for just how bad all of this is for Mr. Bush, because it IS all about him, you selfish widows and orphans!

9. God almighty....that face...
I hope that once Bush gets thrown out of office, then that face will be able to dissolve itself from my retina. I hope there is no image of Bush in my brain's memory bank after this.

He's been such a clown, such agony to bear these past 5 years. I've alternated between rage and quiet desperation over what this man has caused to the US.

So if he and his ilk are suffering - good. It's about time.

10. These asses are
reaping nothing more than what was sewn. The only way for a Neocon to falter is at his own arrogant, glutenous hand.

17. That's my biggest concern --
a Distraction Terror incident.

And undoubtedly they'll find a way to link it to Syria, and use it as their feeble excuse to declare war on Syria.
