Concerned Women of America given $313,000 in Federal Grants

Last November, a $113,000 grant paid the CWA to host a training session with Mexican "leaders"--to fight sex trafficking.

In September, CWA received a $200,000 grant for Phase 2.

Who are the CWA? Beverly LaHaye, wife of Rev. Tim ("Left Behind") LaHaye founded the group to fight the Equal Rights Amendment. Their website is a good place to find out what issues the Religious Right is pushing. (Against Meiers, against Choice, against Gay Rights, blah, blah, blah.)

Who are the Mexican leaders? They are Red Familia (Family Network)--a coalition of groups who want to influence society at large to support their view of family values. Such values as lifelong het marriage, no abortion or emergency contraception, more blah, blah, blah.

Must I point out that I think sexual trafficking is evil? But aren't there better ways to combat it than using our tax dollars to support the Religious Right in two countries?
