...and the Republicans shoot down the nominee almost unanimously before she even gets a hearing...

IT'S THE DEMOCRATS FAULT!

>>>I know I know everyone knows the conservative commentators and conservatives in general forced the withdrawal of Harriet Miers nomination to the US Supreme Court. But that is not the way I see it. Here nomination died for lack of support from the Democrats in the US Senate.

The Democrats had a great opportunity. They President consulted with them. He sent them a nominee Harry Reid suggested. The evolving evidence such as he 1993 speeches was that she is a pleaser. That is she says what those around her like to hear. So to the president she was conservative. But in Washington D.C. pleasers drift left. Thus the Democrats had an opportunity to maybe get another Souter,

Yet what did they do? Rather than come out in favor of her, they sat around and watched her nomination go down in flames. Not one single Democrat stepped up to support her. Had some Democrats like the Nelsons, Reid and Leahy come out in favor of her certainly additional GOP Senators like Specter. Collins and Chafee would have started speaking favorably of her too. Soon it would have been clear that a critical mass for confirmation was building and she likely would have sailed through.

Alas for the Democrats to do what was in their best interest would have required that they support the President. Of course they or at least their base hates the President so much, that they would not or could not support him even when he gave them the best nominee they could hope for from him.

So now they will get a far more conservative nominee. They will complain, but this nominee will be confirmed. And while certainly the conservatives deserve their fair share of credit for the withdrawal of the Miers nomination, don’t fail to give the Democrats and their hatred for the President their fair share of credit.

This should get the spin of the year award.

So, if all they watch is Fox News and of course, being "fair and balanced" as that POS station is, this would be their reply.....perhaps she wasn't supported because there was nothing there to support. :tinfoilhat:

I know I've heard Reid support her. In fact, many on DU wanted Reids head because he did!

4. They Are Truly Amazing
It just shows how much we should pay attention to everything they say in order that our "talking points" are put out there.

5. I think...
I think most informed people are well aware that it was conservatives that killed the nomination. even if all Dem had been fighting it they can't stop it, so it's obviously Republican dissent that killed the nomination.
