Cheesburger bill - did anyone realize?
The 'Cheeseburger bill' is the bill I saw posted about here not long ago that prevents people from suing food establishments for obesity, which I agree with.

But did you know that this bill is that also makes it so that there isn't any moderation or control on how much MSG people put into food products? And there is evidence that MSG is an addictive substance and not by any means harmless.

1. But, but, its good, because it stops frivilous lawsuits
Probably just more election tactics. A way Republicans can hurt Americans, help businesses, and kick the Democrats all at the same time.

They always frame bills this way. It lets them pass their twisted, evil shit while at the same time attacking anyone who doesn't support it as a moron or someone who just doesn't care.

2. MSG
People have been aware for a long time that MSG isn't good for you though. Many restaurants now advertise as being MSG free, so consumers definitely can make their own choices in this case.

3. Yes
It's all about personal responsibility about what you eat. If I'm going to eat at Burger King or Pizza Hut I know that I have the chance of gaining some weight from eating.

6. I don't think any industry should be protected this way

Just a payoff for campaign contributions. I do think the fast food industry bears some responsibility for obesity in this country. It is no coincidence that when mcDonals moves into a country, obesity rates there begin rising. A major problem is that nutrition information is hard to find at these places (and who knows if it is even accurate at all) and people are too damn lazy or in denial to look for themselves.

Sure, personal responsibility is important but that does not mean these companies should be allowed to sell this shit without any consequences. And part of the problem is the convenience factor. It is just too damn easy when you are getting home late from work to pull into one of those places. So there are a lot of issues here. Try and tell someone juggling two or three jobs to get in the kitchen and spend three fucking hours making dinner. They will laugh at you.
