1. I used to want to run for president, but I don't want to serve all those
lower elected posts to get there. Kind of like John Edwards, only without the millions of dollars and the killer good looks. :-)

(Disclaimer: Not a swipe at Edwards, just at myself.)

4. Same here.
I would love to run for a small, local office someday but I am terrified of what they would dig up lol.

6. I have enough skeletons to open a graveyard
But I decided to run for Congress last year anyway. Got a pretty good reception, even though I told people out front I was a convicted felon.

Screw the skeletons! If you have a message, they'll listen.

and, besides, my husband wouldn't approve. :)

5. I was asked to run for my church's board. - what do you guys think?
A friend of mine nominated me and Father Jim said i would be a good choice to "temperate" some of the conservative voices on the board. I don't know if I should because of my health conditions (parkinson's)
and all that. What do you guys think? I am also wondering what the priest used by the word 'temperate." meant.

13. I've been on a number of boards.
It's a lot of work, and if you're being brought on as the "opposition" member, it could be pretty stressful. But if you want the opportunity to change things, it can be pretty rewarding.

15. I agree with donco6
if you are brought on to be the opposition member, it could be very stressful, and not very productive. I guess only you can answer the question. How do you get along with the other members of the board even tho you may have different opinions? Can you offer a constructive and different point of view, or will they just see you as opposition and turn issues into a "win/loss" type of confrontation?

If it will be a constructive opportunity to offer your voice, I would encourage you to do it. I guess, only you know the make up of the current board and what it might be like. Best of luck in your decision.

10. I occasionally lie, but I'm not THAT dishonest.
Besides, kissin' babies, begging for money, and pretending to like people that I can't stand, disqualifies me from and such ambitions of joining the criminal class.

12. Yes I do
Within the next five years...I'm still under 30, so I can wait until then.

But I'm going to run and I'm going to win, because I believe in myself and my ability and I believe I can convince people to support me. Oh I've got some skeletons too, but it'll be okay because I'm going to run in a place where skeletons are ACTUALLY an asset to a candidate.

Sooooo old now that I have to go for the big one!
First thing would be to return all veteran benefits, and give all serving the last 5 years, a national free hunting, fishing, camping license! There were many kinds of bonuses given at the end of WWII and in one state, was no property taxes ever. We owe so much to those who serve and die! A box, flag, small spot of ground just doesn't buy it!
Second would be, everyone eligible would receive a personal ballot for every election to put in the mail free or deposit in secure place.
All elections would be done by the same laws nationwide, not by state rules.
Third, prisons would be more on the order of Devils Island, or what Australia once was, where those of the worst kind would have to take care of themselves and not live off society.
The US does not have to own the rest of the world nor try to impose anything on others.
It will take a century or more for this nation to once again be proud that the world can look at democracy and human progress toward equal rights for an example.
edit: A few more old fashioned ideas but the day is short!
