It's so simple! I can't believe I didn't figure it out sooner!
I've been asking myself 'What strategy is the Bush regime pursuing by purposefully destroying our economy?'

I thought; "To keep the middle and lower class to busy just trying to get by to notice all the bullshit?"

-No

"To reap ever greater profits for corporations by keeping the middle and lower classes enslaved?"

-No

And then it finally hit me...

According to the PNAC agenda, we have to 'project American military force' around the world. But we can't do that without an army. Right now, recruiting numbers suck... but not for long.

Because once the economy collapses, military service will be one of the very few ways anyone can feed their family.

All the military needs to do is pay more per week than someone can make working full-time at Wal-Mart... then outsourcing, downsizing, and 'no child left behind' will take care of the rest.

It's so simple.

I expect recruiting numbers to come up as the economy goes down because there will be no other decent prospects for anyone without advanced skills.

Suddenly it all makes sense. Diabolic in it's genius, elegant in simplicity... if you want to take over the world you have to sabotage your economy to fill your ranks with hungry soldiers.

quite some time. Alomg with the conclusion that they are decimating the military now so they can fully privatize it in the future.

2. I've asked a couple of times, but I never hit the right timing
to catch those who figured it out sooner.

I'm kicking myself for missing something so obvious.

3. "...working full-time at Wal-Mart..."
Walmart doesn't give up very many full-time positions, so that's working in favor of the Bushes.

that before too long, military recruitment posters will just say "Hungry? Join the Army." Or "Homeless? Join the Army."

10. Plus, they want to "drown the government in the bath tub"
Obviously, the first step in doing that is to starve everything but the military of revenues. Lower taxes for the hyper-wealthy, increase deficits to the point of unsustainability, and *presto!* the government is dead without a whimper.

11. I think people would go to the streets before this happens, keep
in mind that the largest segment of the population right now is baby boomers and most of the young ones are Latino and of that mostly Mexicans. I doubt this could really materialize in three more years. I saw in my home country (third world) that the poor people that volunteer for this services (which was one of very few jobs requiring little/no skills beside agriculture and cleaning type of jobs) wasn't overwhelming, so I am not so sure in the US this would become true.

Of course, you never know.

My partner insist that eventually someone would figure out that to solve immigration problems, they should all be required to serve in the military and/or national guard and that this might be the only way to increase military numbers in the next few years...

13. Yep, their whole goal has been to create a WAR economy
Where they get Americans to make sophie's choice type decisions.

1. Either vote for us or die at the hands of terrorists
Then it will be
2. There needs to be a draft to keep us safe from all these warring enemies
3. There is no job for you, other than serve the army. The army is the only way you'll be able to feed your children

14. It's one of the real reasons that pragmatic (read: non-fundy)
conservatives are against reproductive choice.

No one said it better than George Carlin: "Conservatives want live babies so they can grow up to be dead soldiers..."

15. My dad said that the military is meeting its recruitment levels
anyone know if that's true?

I told him you also have to consider reenlistment numbers and I think those have dropped drastically...

17. LOL! Yes they are...
because they have adjusted their quotas DOWN.

"The Army's success in June can be partly attributed to modest expectations. The June 2005 goal was more than 1,000 recruits lower than the June 2004 goal.*

Despite the improvement, the Army has only three months left to recruit the soldiers needed to meet its yearly goal. That's an average of nearly 11,000 per month."
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2005-06-29-army-recruiting_x.htm?POE=NEWISVA

So they had three months to try to attain their goals. Did they do it?

"WASHINGTON - The Army is closing the books on one of the leanest recruiting years since it became an all-volunteer service three decades ago, missing its enlistment target by the largest margin since 1979* and raising questions about its plans for growth."
http://www.military.com/NewsContent/0,13319,77951,00.html?ESRC=eb.nl
*emphasis mine

Nope... not the Army at least.

Overall they might be doing better (Air Force and Navy), But the Branch responsible for putting the 'boots on the ground' that we need is pulling miserable numbers.

So does your Dad listen to Rush Limbaugh?
(I do)

19. And are you going to share this information with him?
Rush used to be a real conservative, now he's a lying sack of weasle-turd.

Unfortunately, he has people convinced that he is the only source of information anyone needs... he's got them locked up.

I'm nearly forty and my parents are still die-hard Republican loyalists who will vote for anyone who wears the mantle regardless of their actions... even though I've given them plenty of real data.

Even smart people can be ignorant.

Good luck.

16. all of the above
I think all of your examples have some semblance of truth to them. I also believe the giant military industrial complex is pulling the strings of government. They just recieved 300 billion of americas taxpayer dollars . If you dont believe these corporations will push wars for profits youre naieve. Of course they will. With that kinda money at stake nothing is out of the question for Terror Inc.
