Let's do the time warp....
I stumbled on this from election 2000:

Democratic VP contenders

With the Bush-Cheney ticket set, all eyes now turn to Al Gore's selection of a running mate. Sources have told The Associated Press that Gore has narrowed his search to five members of Congress and a female governor. This short list effectively eliminates a number of prominent Democrats, including former Senate majority leader George Mitchell; Sens. Bob Kerrey of Nebraska, Richard Durbin of Illinois, Bob Graham of Florida and Tom Harkin of Iowa; Gov. Gray Davis of California; and Energy Secretary Bill Richardson. Here is a look at Gore's reported short list:

1. Very interesting
I find it peculiar that the short list included three who are running now, but no longer impress Gore enough to endorse this time around.

Why do you suppose that is?

Did Lieberman, Kerry and Edwards offend Al after the 2000 selection?

Any other ideas?

2. I remembering being
so disappointed when Gore chose Lieberman. I still believe the numbers would have been higher with any of the other VP choices.

3. Shaheen was the best out of the six for Gore.
