how do we know what our democratic leaders really feel about abortion.
Edited on Wed Nov-02-05 12:38 PM by catmother
i read some replies to a thread this morning about senator harry reid being anti-choice. well he's a mormon so i would assume that he would be anti-abortion. most of our democratic leaders are christian and i think (not sure -- only know about catholic teaching) that christianity teaches that abortion is wrong. so how do we really know unless we ask them individually how they feel. now someone can think that abortion is wrong for them, but would still support a woman's right to choose.

your thoughts?

1. Not all Christians are anti-abortion
There are liberal denominations that either say it is an individual's choice or don't say a thing about abortion.

2. We don't need to know how they feel
We need to know how they would vote on the issue.

4. Ask a politician for a straight answer? OK. Get one?
Visions of flying pigs and flaming snowballs enter one's mind.

5. I don't care what party leaders really feel about anything
I care how they vote and the choices they force on their constituents. Their personal convictions are none of my business.

but how do we know how they're going to vote unless they actually state it.

ON EDIT: the same thing goes for SCOTUS. they can be catholic and still believe in a woman's right -- although i would have doubts about that.
