Howard Students Protest Exclusion from First Lady’s On-Campus Confab

http://www.blackamericaweb.com/site.aspx/bawnews/howard1031

Angry because Howard University students were denied access to an invitation-only youth summit on their own campus, nearly 200 black students protested the event last week, which featured President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush.

"We are the leaders of at-risk youth," Kari Fulton, a junior legal communications major at Howard who participated in the protest, told BlackAmericaWeb.com. "We are the ones who should be able to tell them how to help come out of risk."

According to Washington Post columnist Courtland Milloy, "dozens of students locked arms around a flagpole in the Quadrangle, a designated forbidden zone at the center of the campus, and refused to move despite warnings from campus security that Secret Service rooftop snipers might open fire on them."

4. Or Jackson State.
If the administration was smart, it would "arrange" the shooting of a handful of protestors. The actions at Kent and Jackson effectively killed the on-campus anti-war movement. Once students (and others) realized that they could be shot down, most went back to their dorms until the Vietnam War was over.

Like most "movements" in this country, support was a mile wide and an inch deep.

2. You're thinking of the Peanuts character "Pigpen"
Edited on Wed Nov-02-05 01:50 PM by rocknation

Not to be confused with the black Peanuts character "Franklin"

The...confab at Howard assembled...parents, civic leaders, faith-based and community service providers, foundations, educators, researchers, and experts in child development...
But it didn't occur to anybody that COLLEGE STUDENTS can play a role in influence at-risk youth, especially when both are minorities? Way to reach pump up that black vote, folks!

6. Lil' Abner had Moonbeam McSwine

She was the town "pig pen."

You might be thinking of Joe Btfsplk. His problem wasn't hygiene, it was being a jinx (note his personal stormcloud):

3. On "Soul Food Thursday", no less.....
This article doesn't mention it but Thursday is the most-looked-forward-to day ar Howard and those asses SHUT DOWN the campus cafeteria while Piggles was there.
Totally arrogant, out of touch jerkoffs.
