I was in the bookstore last night..
and I never realized how many Anti-Hillary Clinton books are on the shelves. Exposes', the real Hillary, Hillary as reincarnation of Mao, Lenin and Elsburg.(not really) These people are obsessed, with what? Where do they come up with this crap?

1. I honestly believe
that they are trying to get someone revved up enough to kill her. It is an hysteria feeding frenzy.

3. She's not even what I would term a "liberal"
moderate to be sure. What is the big threat from Hillary?

9. It's kind of like a push poll --
The more they insist that Hillary is the next candidate, and the one to defeat, the more they hope the Dems will see her as such. They know they can beat a squishy moderate with a compromised record. They want the dems to not put up a real progressive who has an agenda that they can't counter.

There's a lot I like about Hillary, but no way I see her taking '08. Her support of the IRW and Patriot Act, not to mention if she does run they'll be able to spend the entire campaign running against Bill.

11. Hillary will NEVER get my vote in the primaries...
not that Diebold will give a damn WHO I vote for; they'll count my vote any way they damned well please.

And Hillary will remain clueless as to how come she got so many votes, when so many regular old Democrats can't stand her.

She's part of the DLC -- the corporatist arm of the Democratic party. She'll be bending over to further the corporatist agenda, just like her husband did.

This country needs a leader who will help heal the nation, not divide us further. Hillary isn't it, and the neocons are taking advantage of that. That is why they are pushing her to be the Dem candidate in 2008.

16. She could be a Democratic Stalking Horse
Edited on Sat Nov-05-05 05:59 PM by IanDB1
The right-wing hates Hillary, and have made her into a bogeyman (okay, bogeyperson).

What if Hillary is being set-up to make herself less appealing and less popular to both sides? It would sure explain her sudden fixation on videogames which is just so 1987.

Then, the right-wing smear machine spends all that time and energy attacking her for years, only to find out that she isn't going to be our presidential nominee. Instead, during the final months, we unveil our Secret Weapon-- Jimmy Carter for President in 2008!

2. It is what she said, "A Vast Right Wing Conspiracy"

They know how powerful she is and they get ahead of her.

We haven't learned that trick.

Many of us keep bashing her.

That helps the vast right wing a lot IMO.

7. I often wander around the store re-shelving books like that
Many of my local bookstores have the anti-Hillary books on underneath the shelves, or tucked behing the dog training books.

section. I feel guilty doing much more than that.

10. Moving wingnut books to other sections
in the bookstore just means that more customers will be exposed to them, rather than just those who go to the politics section. If you want to spread political books around the store, why not pick good ones, or even just place a progressive book in front of the winger book right where it is?

15. It's not really moving them so much as HIDING them as well as you can...
like in the space between the floor and the bottom of the bookshelf.

Or tucked at the very back of the shelf behind a stack of books on fungus spores.

14. You could also place leaflets inside the books instead
That's something that always gives me great pleasure.

Although putting a couple hundred fliers inside free newspapers and then putting them back in the machine is probably more effective.

13. In the bookstore I worked at
Edited on Sat Nov-05-05 05:34 PM by brentspeak
the biggest headache occured when the SmearVets book was published. Even though the SmearVets' publisher printed up a very limited quantity of the initial printing, Freeper-types would accuse the staff of "hiding" the book away from the customers. Apparently, Sean Hannity and other conservative radio idiots were feeding their soft-headed listeners' heads with conspiracy theories about "liberal bookstores" not wanting the public to get their hands on the book.

You have no idea the kinds of freaks our store had to deal with in this situation: people threatening to sue us, people jabbing their fingers in our faces, screaming at the manager, trying to bust their way into our receiving area. And all over a book that the publisher simply wasn't sending to the stores (according to a memo Regnery Publishing sent to our chain, they didn't foresee the huge demand for the book).

Sean Hannity always offers up the challenge, "Show me where I told a lie!" But that lie about bookstores preventing customers from getting the Swift book was direct, personal proof to me of what a weasel he is.

And if she does that, I think she certainly can win. I bet his approval ratings are still in the seventies.
