To me, being a progressive doesn't include mocking people for the way they're born looking, any more than you would judge somebody by the
color of their skin. You wouldn't judge somebody by the color of
their skin, would you? The freepers would post the same picture with
a DU-related caption. Are you better than the freepers, or about the same?

I like Freedom4um. It is, of course, a different type of site. They don't like either major party there. However, when it comes to the Bush travesty/dynasty, Freedom4um is in COMPLETE agreement with the posters I've seen here.

If that other poster wants to be progressive, he should think of building bridges instead of burning them. There are plenty of people on the right who want Bush/Cheney in jail, and if we here insist on bickering with them all the time, then Bush/Cheney succeeds in dividing and conquering its opposition.

Regarding your niece and/or others like her, I'm not kidding, I've actually had this thought: some people whose intelligence tests out under average are actually better citizens than some of those who have average intelligence. This occurred to me after having many times seeing "retarded" people do a much better job of working than "average" people--and also after seeing some persons with Down's Syndrome turn out to be much more loving and kindly than many persons without Down's Syndrome.
