Order of preference on remaining candidates?
Edited on Thu Jan-29-04 11:20 AM by GreenPartyVoter
1) Kucinich (Love his vision.)

2) Dean (Not quite a Dennis or Paul Wellstone, but could head there one day. Like his stand on election reform, but it could go further.)

3) Edwards

4) Sharpton (Was 3. Love what he brings to the debates, but I think Edwards has some promise and a lot less baggage so he moved up.)

5 and 6 are either Kerry and Clark or Clark and Kerry (not sure yet. Toss-up between Kerry's lack of charisma and Clark's lack of experience)

7) Lieberman (He is too conservative for my tastes to bump up higher in the list.)

(I look forward to the day when we can vote this way at the polls. ;^) )

1. I think mine is
Kerry because I believe in him

Edwards because I like his JFK style

Clark because of his military smarts.

That is it.

3. Dean first and foremost
Then Kucinich, the doomed one.

Then WAY below the pack...Edwards.

Then...WAY below him....Clark

Then, at the bottom, Kerry and Sharpton.

4. DK because his vision comes closest to mine
John Edwards who is a great populist just waiting to happen and he is not too entrenched in Washington.

John Kerry- a great man and a solid liberal.

Howard Dean When most of the party were acting like sniveling invertebrates Dean was acting like a full-blown maverick and I loved it. Great energy. A good candidate and a great man. I always have liked Dean, just not as much as the others.

Wes Clark is an intelligent thoughtful man. He seems a little wet behind the ears, but has improved his speeches and campaign style greatly in the last few months. His capacity to learn - what a learning curve!- and his resume are impressive. He has an odd republican type background, yet he has the vision of a progressive. I like that. Oh yeah, Supreme Allied Commander sorta sounds impressive don't you think?

Sharpton- I heard him called an "irresponsible liberal" which almost made me want to vote for him for that reason alone. Sharp wit, Sharp tongue. Please make this guy the next WH Press Secretary!

Lieberman- Our rightful VP! Joe is too conservative for me, but I believe he is a good man with proper intentions. I like his MediKids idea a lot. I like his faith and conviction. He just is way off on how I would like the U.S. and world to be.

7. Dennis Kucinich is my favorite, as well, though I realize
that he hasn't a prayer.

I agree with you on the lack of experience on the part of some of the candidates.

I like Kerry and Edwards. I think they might make a powerful ticket.

Sharpton is the best speaker. I know as well as he does, that he is not electable, but his views add a great deal to the campaign.

I am not as enthusiastic about Dean and Clark and Lieberman, but I would vote for anyone of them over Bush* anyday.

2) Kerry, because he has the most liberal record of the remaining candidates.

3) Edwards

4) Clark

5) Dean--I've never understood the attraction

6) Sharpton--I remember his days as a disreputable NY area character too well

7) Lieberman--ideally poised to take the Republican party back to its roots

10. my list looks exactly like yours, except that...
...the candidates below Sharpton are not even on my radar. I'm a little sketchy about Edwards too, mainly because of his voting record during the Bush* administration, but I agree that he's at least saying the right things now. One big issue for me though, is that whomever succeeds Bush* will not only have to reestablish the country in a different direction, but will also have one hell of a mess to clean up before they do it. Truthfully, I only see Kucinich or Dean having the resolve to accomplish that.

24. This has become very hard for me.
I was recently: Clark, Edwards, Kerry, Kucinich, Dean, Lieberman, Sharton

Now I have serious doubts about everything. I heard Edwards proudly defend his war vote. Then I heard Dean bitch slap Hannity and I loved it. He took him down with arguments.

I am afraid Dean is doomed so I am having trouble placing him.
Here it is:

Clark, 2a Kerry 2bEdwards, Dean, Kucinich, Lieberman, Sharpton

26. Going with only the 4 with a realistic shot at the Title here
1) Howard Dean - Best candidate for the job, and the only one I can fully support. He recognizes that it is far more than just the White House that has been corrupted, and that our country is doomed unless we do something about it NOW.

2) Wesley Clark - Not happy about his recent past as a defense industry lobbyist, nor his cheerleading for Team Bush in recent years. But I will take him at his word that he woke up and realized that the Bush Criminal Empire had gone too far, and his opposition to furthering the PNAC agenda.

3) John Edwards - Not happy about his war vote or the Patriot Act, but I believe that this "son of a millworker" is geniune when he says we can and should do better at eliminating the one set of rules for the millionaires and another for the rest of us.

4) John Kerry - I created a certain nickname for the Senator which I will not repeat here, due to recent revisions of the rules, but it was more than fitting for one who has betrayed the Democratic party (along with the rest of the DLC pushing his coronation) I cannot even "hold my nose and vote" for someone who is tied to the same exact criminals who are behind Bush Jr. It's as simple as that.

8) ABB or third party, depending on closeness of race in my state. I trust none of them other than DK, (and to a lesser degree, Sharpton) to offer up anything even remotely resembling a healthy direction for the country to take.

Edwards is definitely my least favorite candidate, and I'll have to hold my nose even harder to vote for him (it will be EXTREMELY hard to pull the level for him)-- and I'll be holding it for any of the others.

Yeah, I've been a partisan for a long time, but Edwards has more positives and less negatives than any of the others. He's infinitely better in person, and he's got a thoroughly detailed platform that makes sense and has great appeal. He can win more handily than any of the others, and he could be a true lightning rod for a new age in our political lives.

41. My top 4:
1) Dean -- has been from the start. Dean was anti-war when anti-war wasn't cool. The "I have a scream" speech did absolutely nothing to diminish him in my estimation. I don't want a president devoid of emotion. Such people are better suited to TV journalism.

2) Kerry -- a former prosecutor, wealthy Boston brahmin, and a bonesman, these things raise some suspicions in my mind. Also a little too "green" for my taste (I'm not much of an environmentalist), but that's tolerable. His voting record is above reproach, and I really admire that, as a decorated Vietvet, he devoted much of his time to anti-war activism after his discharge. That's credibility!

3) Kucinich -- My fellow Ohioan is too left for my moderate instincts, but with Gephardt out, who else carries the banner of the working class so well, and so sincerely? And unlike Dick, Dennis was a vocal opponent of the war from the start.

4) Clark -- I probably should have stopped at 3, because the drop from 3 to 4 is steep. to me, Clark is simply the least of the Evils class, all that is left after nos. 1-3. I have much experience with career military officers, and trust them very little, as I've found them to be long on ambition and short on principles. The fact that Clark voted Republican until joining the Democratic party just a few short months ago is testament to this. He's an opportunist who would likely be running for the GOP nomination if Gore were president right now. His chief attribute to the party now seems to be electability -- and he isn't Bush (Neither is Zell Miller). I'll have trouble supporting him (or Edwards) even for the VP slot.

Just my .02 worth.

Clark's lack of experience at what? Whoring his vote for campaign money? Learning how to lie with a straight face? Placing a campaign victory over personal integrity?

Here's hoping that he *doesn't* learn these politico traits that are so smoothly integrated into some of our other choices.
