In most, if not all, states your secretary of state is in charge of the voting process.

I suggest you read this first:
"20 Amazing Facts About Voting in the U.S."
http://nightweed.com/usavotefacts.html

Then, from that website, read this about the Swiss Voting System":
http://www.swissvs.org/

Then, referencing thses two websites, write an e-mail or letter to your secretary of state. Just google "(your state) secretary of state". Get this movement started by sending it to friends in other states. Send copies to local newspapers.
This is a totally non-partisan issue, or should be.

Here's what I wrote:

Dear Secretary Worley,

We have read many articles about voting irregularities in Florida in 2000 and Ohio in 2004. There is also the infamous "Baldwin County" recount that evidently gave the last Alabama governor's race to Bob Riley.

As a result, we are now very concerned as to whether our votes are truly and accurately counted and how we may be assured that they are. I need not point out that voting and the accurate tabulation of those votes is the deepest bedrock foundation of our democratic republic.

Please read "20 Amazing facts About Voting in the U.S."
http://nightweed.com/usavotefacts.html
It is chilling, to say the least.

Then please go to the "Swiss Voting System" website, here:
http://www.swissvs.org/
for what seems to be a reasonable and very workable solution.

Thank you.
Mr. & Mrs. Joe Smith

1. Addendum:
I said that this should be a non-partisan issue.
Well, it is and it isn't.
It IS an issue that the repugs cannot agrue against.
It isn't quite so non-partisan in that I think we're all pretty much agreed that had all of the votes been counted accurately we'd have won both 2000 and 2004.
