37. Some potential good news
With 100,000+ votes counted, Kaine is running well ahead of the Democratic candidates for lieutenant gov and attorney general. I don't know how they races were polled or predicted but since the Republican candidates are well ahead, 15 and 7 points while Kaine is only down 1, I would guess the returns so far are GOP-based precincts and Kaine is doing better than a Democrat typically would.

56. With 47,000 votes counted
http://sbe.virginiainteractive.org/

Kaine just picked up a huge precinct(s). Based on the previous numbers, I looked at it initially and thought Kilgore had gone back up by 12%. For some reason they put the leader on top instead of leaving the name order alone.

Now it flopped again. Kilgore is slightly ahead.

71. Watching this, I can see why we can't deal with 'independants' ...
until the voting system is made honest and transparent..

It's too easy to 'shove' votes to an indy to hide them...

I'll guarantee you the totals for the Potts will be all that's needed to move the results one way or another...

111. A word on the reporting of "election returns".
Screwing with the order of returns (and how these are "reported") is an old trick. For one thing, it identifies the need for (and allows for) the necessary padding (screwing up, discarding, etc) in the later-reporting districts.

Count on nothing until the "magic numbers" are reached. And don't get your hopes up based on early returns.

It won't be long before we know, so be patient.

But I love that Kaine is 5-6 points ahead of the other two Democrats. There's enough of a sample now to indicate that's legit and will continue, and Kaine is getting some crossover support and higher percentage of independents than would typically vote Democratic.
