Why wouldn't locals do exit polling anyway?
I can see official companies not polling(well....no I can't. WHO decided this?) but what is to stop local groups from doing their own polling?
And what Dem polling org. would agree with NOT polling knowing that is the only way to catch vote fraud on the part of Repubs?
People were asking how we voted outside our polling place in CA, but they looked like a local group.
Whether or not the "official usual suspects" poll or not, there should still be citizens out there polling, don't you think so?
It's the last defence we have.

5. Money?
If they're activists wouldn't they be pissed off enough by the fraud to make sure Repubs are not allowed to just freely steal elections?
I wish I knew of a group I wouldn't mind doing it on election day.

Maybe the League of Women Voters would take on the project.

Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 08:25 PM by ...of J.Temperance
The Ukraine and Romania have exit polls that are deemed credible...and yet the United States SINCE 1961 HAD CREDIBLE EXIT POLLS UNTIL THE EXIT POLLS IN 2000 SHOWED THE BUSH BASTARD LOSING...so now the fuckers REFUSE to allow ANY exit polling.

Sorry...I NEEDED to shout.

:evilfrown:

On Edit: Spelling error correction.

9. It's fine to shout
I won't take it personally.
Exit polling or not, the American people know something's up. 51% now think Bush stole 2004 too.

6. They seem kind of official
I can see them coming under some kind of fire if there is some sort of agreement not to have exit polls.

7. So the candidates...
themselves are the only ones that know how they are doing?
Well, that's better than flying completely blind.

10. You have to have it, during the day

You have your precincts that are for you and for your opponent and the ones that are toss ups. When someone goes to vote the poll workers call their name out, you can gage if your voters are getting out or not and where you have to target the phone banking and rides. With the money spent in the two governor races tonight, I'm sure they had a real good idea how it was going to turn out about three or four hours ago.

8. Cause they make people stay home when they are leaked. Someone
who is in a line while their kids are with - a neighbour - or something they do not like - can stay home and not vote if exit polls reveal "Dems have won" and are leaked.

We need everybody up off their seats and voting.

Why give people an out?

Plus the exit polls (many leaked) were wrong in many places. Even many places without diebold. So until they figure that one out - they should not take place.
