Pardon me, sir and madam, but may I suggest, in light of tonight's wins...
that we, in fact, aren't always at the mercy of voter fraud?

that the media, in fact, aren't always corporate propagandists for the right wing?

that dirty ads, such as ones using Adolf Hitler and serial murderers, don't always lead to wins?

that Karl Rove isn't this genius political mastermind whom we all should fear?

that, moderate or liberal, a Democrat can still win a race today?

that finally - FINALLY - we can acknowledge that September 11th truly did cripple our party's ability to win fairly - until TONIGHT - and not because of bad political strategy?

that we Democrats can choose between Heinekin and New Belgium's 1554 as we revel in tonight's ARSE KICKING!

Yar!

Writer :)

2. Except for us Buckeyes in Ohio.
The dirty ads helped defeat our issues 2-5 and I feel that our dem-sponsored issues just can't win in this stupid state.

I hope to feel better tomorrow and hit it again, but for tonight, this Buckeye is CRYING in her Heinekin.

9. I feel the same way Kukesa
I feel so defeated right now. Why on Earth, with all of the corruption, would our fellow citizens not vote for no-fault absentee ballots, non-partisan redistricting, lower contribution limits.... it just doesn't make sense.

10. It makes no sense
and I think most of the voters did NOT understand issues 2-5; they could have been better written (too wordy) and better explained -- just a few words for each issue, not the tome that was presented as an amendment to our constitution.

Wanna cry in my beer with me?

5. Media ARE Corporate Propagandists for the Right Wing...Where are the
Election Results? Without DU how would those in states who are interested in these elections find the results? Only Fox had some "limited coverage" if you could stand their "barf" and the Cables were covering Sex/Divorce/Sex/Holloway.

I've never seen the Cables be so lax in their coverage of a big story like this. Bush Campaigned for Kilgore...Bush is a loser.

Races were called and where were MSNBC/CNN and CNN HEADLINE NEWS? Absent.

And the VOTING MACHINES "ARE" RIGGED....

7. Regarding 9/11
I'll just post the the same link I've posted many times, regarding party affiliation change toward the GOP post 9/11. This was available on the internet months before the 2004 election and forewarned our fate: http://people-press.org/reports/display.php3?PageID=750

Here are the summation paragraphs early in the PEW study from that link:

Post-9/11 Parity

"The Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, and Bush's response to the attacks, marked a major turning point in party identification. Republican party identification rose to 30%, while the Democrats fell to 31%, putting the parties into a virtual tie for the allegiance of the public.

Because Republicans traditionally turn out to vote in higher numbers than do Democrats, the current division in party affiliation among the public could provide the GOP with a slight electoral advantage, all other things being equal.

A striking feature of the post-9/11 shift in partisan identification is its breadth. The shift is seen in most major demographic and social groups in the population, and is fairly consistent in size.

Among these groups, the average decline in the Democratic advantage is five percentage points, but no group in the population shifted more than 10 points. Greater than average Republican gains in party affiliation are seen among white Protestants (nine-point shift after Sept. 11), white Catholics (eight points), and Hispanics (eight points)."

8. Yes, Republicans are still perceived as the party of National Security
Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 11:01 PM by Clarkie1
Even now.

Even tonight.

That MUST change, and we must not think that tonight, as good a night as it is, changes any of that.

We still have a lot of perception-changing, image building, and education to do.

13. Correct, and we would have been fine with almost anything else
A homeland national security disaster is the one thing we couldn't fade, in terms of perception. We don't poll anywhere near that far behind the GOP in terms of religion or taxes or any other significant issue. I really think it was a no-win situation, because if Gore had been in office he would have been blamed for not preventing it, along with Clinton. Instead, Bush inherited all the undeserved credit for saying a few simpleton words and then Republicans gleefully attached fear to every topic.

14. Eternal vigilance.
I still believe the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections were stolen. I want real ballots and a real audit process!

I want Diebold--all of it--in jail.
