1. this message was loud and clear
he has been running our state like bush has been running the country, like he is dictator

The message is that if you don't work with the other side, the Democrats, you will continue to lose

The word is compromise Arnie, NOT in your face arragance like your leader

I do NOT see it happening though since their ego won't let it

6. Thanks, Do you think the message has been heard?

In California's case it is to work with the Democrats, even maybe, oh no, compromise?

After listening to Arnie's handlers I doubt that will happen, they are arragont as they ever were, just like the President, his administration, and Congress

9. oh ABSOLUTELY I do
they HEARD it - there is absolutely no way they could NOT hear you - but will they modify their behavior? At this point I am almost convinced that republicans, drunk on power, are UNABLE to mondify their behavior.....I hope they all go down in flames because of it.

I read 80 and it sounded good. I also read 78 79 and they did not sound bad. BUT all went down in defeat. WHY...

4. Well
The pharmaceuticals wanted prop 78, so heavliy had ads against 79. I don't think 80 got any ads for or against. Just probably got caught in the 'Say no' to everything, just in case Californian's.

Feels good to win.

5. problem is 78 and 79 were actually countered each other
an unbelievable amount of money was put into 78, which was sponsered by the large phamaceuticals, while 79 was sponsered by AARP

I think people were not sure, so they did NOT take a chance

80 was going to roll back on parts of the degregulation which hurt this state in 2001. Just like the original plan for degregulation, it was only half-assed

13. I suspect
that many people voted against 79 and 80 simply because they were pissed off about Arnie spending money for a special election. I think 79 an 80 would have been good, but an across the board defeat really slaps Arnie in the face. I can live with that.

14. A lot of the media was telling people to vote no on all the props.
80 was about re regulation of utilities and I don't think the conservatives would vote for it and I don't think there was much support among the liberals either. 79 was a consumer group prop that I think not many people knew much about. Also 78 was put there by pharmaceutical companies to counter 79 and I think most people were confused as to which one to vote for and vote against.

12. Thank You, California Nurses
http://www.theleftcoaster.com/archives/005970.php#more

Before anyone forgets amid the euphoria of batting around Arnold’s political testicles with badminton rackets this morning, I would like to say a special thank you to the California Nurses Association.

Only 18 months ago Arnold was considered to be unbeatable for 2006. Being the rank corporatist Republican liar that he is, he told the nurses that their extremely hard-won patient ratios meant nothing to him. They, the law and their patients would suffer and die as he lied about heisting the money.

Some lines are just never crossed—the risks are so horrifying one just never goes there. Like lying to your wife, the consequences are going to be nuclear and leave nasty scars (assuming one survives), no matter how stupidly one rationalizes the act. Arnold is a novice and a dumbass, so I guess it isn’t surprising, really, that he thought he could cross nurses over their patients.

It simply didn’t matter that Arnie was hugely popular, that most analysts thought he could get away with it, or that organized labor had not won a big fight in a while. The nurses knew damn well a thief had come in, stolen what they had worked a generation for and was laughing as he gave them the finger across the street. Get out the mattresses and die going down, if it means that, for something like this could never stand.

snip

I do think a lot more people need to be thanked, but this is a good start.

16. Yes, I am a California teacher and rightly proud of myself
and my fellow teachers for all our hard work against groper. But during this fight, I was even more impressed with the nurses. They were organized, determined, hard working, and RIGHT. They gave countless hours of their own time to organize marches against groper. They were out in full force at every rally I attenended. They had great bumperstickers, buttons, and even umbrellas for those marching in the hot sun way back in the Summer. One nurse let me keep the huge umbrella printed with anti-groper slogans that I think was only supposed to be for the nurses. In fact, she insisted. We were all brothers and sisters fighting together, but I will never forget the nurses. Thank you, if there are any nurses reading this.
