60% of South Hampton believes Bush hurt the repug candidate!
I just wanted to share this with all of you as this is great news coming from South Hampton, Virginia, a war hawk zone if ever there was one! The poll (WAVY TV) indicates that 60% of those polled believe that Bush's visit to Virginia to boost (repugs)Kilgore's chances hurt him! Kaine defeated Kilgore by more than 100,000 votes despite the usual "you're a liberal" smear tactics in this traditionally red state. The other two state races saw very close races. The democrats just didn't run any big name candidates or else they may have swept!

This word needs to get out to all areas since Bush would like to stump for others. Make him afraid. Like they did to Clinton.

4. Given the reality of polls
he would have lost anyway. Do not let them spin this as just Bush the loser as much as it delights all of us. All the rethugs are losers - Delay, Frist and the gang tied up with the Russian mobster. This must be viewed as a rejection of the culture of corruption.

5. I think " buisness as ususal " is wearing thin these days.
The Repugs blew it. Call it hubris or karma but in a larger since they seem to be a tad discredited. Agreed. They will spin and spin trying to find a way to make this into a way to gain ground, or stop the erosion. Let's keep them in office for a bit longer.

7. Bush cemented Kilgore's lost, but let's not let it get spun like that.
Kilgore would have lost anyway. VA got a taste of what a Democratic governor can do and they liked it. Northern VA is blue, and even the traditionally red areas of the state are filling with progressives and moderates.

If anything, Bush's unpopularity is starting to transfer to the entire party, but let's not let them make him their scapegoat. Republicans in general are losers, not just Bush.

8. I mean we should start Bush bashing repug candidates!
Like they did with Clinton...

...A supporter of Bill Clinton...

We could start jabbing back with:

... A staunch supporter of George Bush...

use the name Bush to smash the repugs. A taste of their own medicine.

I believe Kilgore was headed for defeat regardless. But Bush sank him and in my area the conservatives are saying that Bush was not helpful. Call me a shark in the water but I smell the blood here. If Bush's base is angry at him, all his supporters are in danger!

And the democratic candidates for lt. governor and attorney general barely lost, despite being up against big name and big money candidates with big smear tactics. I view that as sort of a victory.
