1. He got ABSOLUTELY SLAUGHTERED (On Edit: Link to article)
Edited on Wed Nov-09-05 08:23 AM by ...of J.Temperance
The REAL Democrat hammered him, George W. Kelly lost by something like 30%. I can't remember the actual numbers, no doubt somebody here will have the raw numbers for you.

But Kelly went down MASSIVELY.

On Edit: Ha, make that 40% - Real Democrat got 70%, Kelly got 30%

Here's the article:

5. Isn't Norm Coleman also a former Mayor of St. Paul?
What is it with these freaks like Norm and Randy Kelly?

6. I'm ashamed to admit it but yes, Norm Coleperson was
the mayor of St. Paul before Randy Kelly. I have no idea how that happened because St. Paul is very heavily Democratic. The voters always vote correctly in all other elections but for some reason we could never give ourselves a decent mayor. Until now, that is. Part of the reason for the past failures probably has to do with Normie and RK running as "Dems." Normie switched parties a few years after he got elected but I have NO IDEA how he got elected as a Repug the second time around. That just doesn't fit with the way St. Paulites vote. Kerry got something like 73% of the vote last year and that's more in line with the typical voting patterns in St. Paul.

7. I can't
Stand Norm Coleman and with that broken nose, he looks like the thug he is in his heart.

The voting patterns in St. Paul do seem odd, as you said Kerry got 73% of the vote. Maybe it's something like how red states will vote Repuke for President for decades, yet they'll also elect Democrats for their Governor.

11. I absolutely detest Normie.
I can't wait to get him voted out. He is a complete disgrace to this state, just like he was a disgrace to St. Paul when he was mayor. Oh, and he was referred to as "Norm Coleperson" by his fellow classmates throughout law school. They spotted his smarminess immediately. Yeah, he was every bit as popular with them as he is on DU. ;)

I can't account for the past voting records regarding St. Paul mayors. It just doesn't make sense. Statewide, it's a bit different. The rural areas vote tend to vote Repug but the Twin Cities metro area in general is very heavily Democratic. As a result, we will elect a mix of Dem and Repug reps, both locally and nationally, but the Twin Cities metro area and the Iron Range (a northern area of the state which is hugely democratic) pretty much carry the state for the national elections. Well that and the fact that the turnout for election here is huge tends to help Dems. I believe the 2004 election had something like an 80% turnout statewide, if that gives you any idea. But I still can't figure out how St. Paul has gotten stuck with the crappy mayors it has had. The whole city is very heavily Democratic so I have no idea how Norm and Kelly ever got elected. Luckily it appears we have finally "turned the corner" on that curse and I don't expect it to return anytime soon.

8. Not Norm Coleman - Chris Coleman
Kelly, a DLC-type, stood with Bush, while Coleman, a liberal, beat the pants off him.
