It's full speed ahead for DeLay's legal strategy
Sugar Land Republican hopes to beat the charges in time to reclaim his post

WASHINGTON - Houston lawyer Dick DeGuerin remains a man in a hurry on behalf of his client, U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay.

"We've got to go forward — get to trial as soon as possible," DeGuerin said. "Tom DeLay has a primary in March. He has a leadership position. And in politics, nature abhors a vacuum."

DeLay has sought and won the removal of his original trial judge and is now asking for his case to be moved from heavily Democratic Austin. The maneuvers don't bring a trial any closer, however, and could even delay the start of one.

But DeLay still hopes to refute the Texas conspiracy and campaign money-laundering charges against him in time to reclaim his majority leader post.

2. More from the same article.
Normally, lawyers would tell their client to be quiet in this situation. But Tom DeLay has not been quiet."

DeLay has continued to help rally Republican support for some votes, such as an upcoming bill that would cut billions out of the federal budget.

Working in DeLay's favor is the fact that his fellow Republicans know that he could be exonerated and reward those who supported him, Austin lobbyist Bill Miller said.

If DeLay "succeeds in beating these charges, there will be a reckoning for people on the Republican side, especially for those who did not step up and help him," Miller said.

3. Sounds like the Godfather.
The DeLay crime family... I wonder if they'll get a t.v. show -"Growing up DeLayed."

4. The judge was recused because he gave to democratic causes...
but did you know that delays attorney was also a Democrat? Why then doesn't someone find out who he gave to and call it a conflict of interest of he also gave to Democratic causes. It's nothing but a smoke and mirror tactic, but that's all that delay has been doing up to this point anyway. Play at their own game.

I had posted this before and it sunk like a rock.
