Curious: what happened to the WH's TERRA TERRA Alert Distraction Tactic?
Edited on Wed Nov-09-05 01:40 PM by npincus
As we all know so well, the WH has pushed the TERRA alarm button every time they want to change a subject that is unpleasant or politically awkward for them. (Keith Olbermann did a wonderful segment on this: "Nexus of Politics and Terror" awhile back- if you missed it, it's at: http://www.crooksandliars.com/2005/10/12.html.)

Anyway, it seems the WH has dropped this particular tactic... though of course they are trying to scare us with avian flu-round-the-clock.. BUT, we haven't had the DING DING DING... "..and the color of the day is Bright Orange Terra!" in quite some time.

Do you think they know we are all onto them? Chimpy's had so much bad news, you would think now would be the time to stick some anthrax up Rove's ass, drop him on Times Square and scream "This is the BIG one...TERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRA!!!!"

Why so quiet?

8. They have a few other distractions right now
bird flu, supreme court nominee, Iran's president hating on Isreal, but give them time and you'll see a new Osama video and a terror color change.

9. Because England, Australia, France, Spain, and Turkey...
are actually capturing terrorists domestically, taking them to trial, and convicting them.

For the Bush administration to cry "terra", they have to point a finger to Iraq...and they don't want you looking that way, especially when the "white phosphorus" crime is about to pop like a balloon full of shaving cream.

11. i recall Howard Dean commenting on this in Summer 04
He noticed that every time there was "trouble" or bad news for the President, there was a new terror threat. After Dean did his round of talk shows where everyone said he was "crazy", the terror threats have had much less effect.

12. Enough people called "bullshit!" on it that it was becoming...
...too boring even for the late-night comedians to joke about it any more.

13. simple-it cost to much money
and those involved got tired of footing the bill. the fbi has to drop everything it is doing and all agents have to go to "terror alert",local and state law enforcement has to cover soft targets untill the alert is lifted, hospitals have to go on alert and lock down untill cleared, and that is a few that i know of....

14. The
The New York one closely followed by the Baltimore one were the last throes of that tactic. Nobody is falling for these uncorroborated threats anymore.
