An Important Indictment

SNIP:
The flailing Bush presidency continues to spin off new compelling story lines almost daily; yesterday it was torture, today it's Bush as electoral albatross. It's almost inevitable that the media will let some fall by the wayside.

But according to a new Pew Research Center poll, the recent indictment of senior White House aide Scooter Libby is a really big deal: Even more important to the country, for instance, than the 1998 charges that President Bill Clinton lied under oath about Monica Lewinsky. Those, of course, led to Clinton's impeachment.
-----------

More

Press secretary Scott McClellan was questioned repeatedly and persistently about what sort of exemption the White House is requesting from a proposed congressional ban on torture.

He wouldn't say. And when the journalists in the room wouldn't back off, he lost his cool.

1. Diese fragen sind verboten. Verstehen sie? Verboten.
Scotty does the two step.

2. That little POS is always talking about "the American people want this"
and "the American people want that". Who the hell authorized him to use us as an excuse for their miserable failings and lies? WE are the American people and he does NOT speak for US or for ME or ANYONE I know!

I hope terrible things happen to that pathetic waste of skin.

4. Posted this earlier on a similar thread:
Every time Scotty says 'the American people', the reporters present should all say, in unison, "We ARE the American people." End of that discussion -- Scottie will back down if he's met with that phrase a few times.

6. That would be too much to ask for from these reporters

Even if they are starting to feel a little less timid, they are still MILES, nay, LIGHT-YEARS from what I consider reporting. Except Helen, of course, and one or two others but, really, the rest of them should be sent to the frontlines in Iraq.

Grrr, it really gets my goat when Snottie says, "the American people." Glad to know I'm not the only one it pisses off!
:hi:

8. Helen could lead the cry!

Or how about this:

Every time Scottie refers to The American People wanting something, thinking something, or agreeing with something, someone can shout out, "Name them!"

3. Other Highlights
"Later, when American Urban Radio reporter April Ryan took up the question again, McClellan accused her of "showboating for the cameras" and told her she needed to "calm down."

THE LOOK OF EXASPERATION ON HER FACE SAID IT ALL!

"Surprisingly, there's no outcry in today's coverage over McClellan's tactics. But it does make you wonder how much longer he can trade on his accumulated good will with the press corps.:"

5. Scotty's going to need a LOT of pepcid ac.
Or maybe they will just stop taking any questions at all. Scotty can get up and do his monologue to an empty press room.

11. Bet I can make you laugh...Scotty in a nutshell...

First let me step back. The President has made it very clear. I appreciate the question. I disagree with that characterization. You’re asking that in the context of an ongoing investigation. There is an ongoing legal proceeding. Moving forward there is a pending appeal case. I cannot comment on plea bargain hunting trips at this time. Truth is pending until further notice.

or at least smiling...

Picked this up on a thinkprogress.org feedback page...Thanks Louis!

9. At least he isn't explicitly questioning their patriotism, only that they
are typical Americans.

Actually I think he is saying in neocon code that they are unpatriotic if they question anything he or the admin says.

He already accused Helen of not believing in the global war on terror once.

10. Snotty Scotty has 0% Credibility...time for him to slink from the podium
with his tail tucked between his legs, and mop the piss stains up on your way out Snotty.
