Subject: Defeat Byrd: MoveOn's Favorite Son

Dear NewsMax Reader:

Below is a message from Hiram Lewis, a candidate for the U.S. Senate. He has an important message to share with you.

Thank you.

Hiram Lewis - Candidate for U.S. Senate, 2006

DEFEAT BYRD!

On November 7, 2006, I intend to defeat Robert Byrd and win another seat for the Republicans in the United States Senate.

In order to send the ultra-liberal Democrat Byrd into retirement and to protect the American values that we believe in , I need YOUR help. In the November 2004 election for State Attorney General in West Virginia, I received 49.6% of the vote in a VERY CLOSE ELECTION. Now, the Democrats -- with the help of Moveon.org -- have mobilized to try and save this vulnerable liberal Senate seat. This is a race that Republicans across the nation are watching closely and they know we can win, but the liberal left plans to spend a lot of money... and I will need YOUR support to succeed.

Something must be done. I have chosen to stand up for my beliefs and I expect to win. Please GO HERE to send a contribution to LEWIS FOR SENATE.

Those on the liberal Left are doing EVERYTHING THEY CAN to attack and destroy REAL conservatives. They know that if they can take us out, they can stop every policy, every bill, every judicial nominee -- everything we want to see accomplished in Washington, D.C. -- DEAD in its tracks. Their goal is nothing short of the DESTRUCTION of the conservative movement in this country.

This year, liberal groups know that they must attempt to save the Senate seat in West Virginia. They are helping the vulnerable Robert Byrd accumulate a Goliath-sized war chest for the upcoming election.

Please GO HERE to make YOUR generous contribution to STOP THEM.

This is not some imaginary "vast left-wing conspiracy." LIBERAL GROUPS ARE ON THE MOVE:

* MoveOn.org -- the "800-pound gorilla" of radical liberal organizations, funded by far-left billionaires like George Soros, has already raised over $830,000 to support the campaign of their far-left candidate here in West Virginia.
* In 2005 so far -- Byrd has raised $2,688,543. How? From individual contributors from around the country who want to see the conservative agenda stopped!

In just one day, Moveon.org raised $634,000 for Byrd's campaign! That's five times more than Byrd raised on his own in the last four years combined!

I could go on and on. Liberal group after liberal group, Democrat after Democrat, liberal media outlet after liberal media outlet . . . they've all lined up to destroy conservatives, and especially conservative candidates.

WHY WEST VIRGINIA?

Liberal Democrat Senator Robert Byrd has been:

* Fighting the American military.
* Raising Taxes.
* Supporting Pro-Abortion extremism.
* Obstructing the American justice system.
* Handcuffing the American economy.
* Undermining the 2nd Amendment.

With a record littered with policy defeats and bad ideas, Democrats know that Byrd is vulnerable in 2006. They know, because of my very close election last fall, that I can unseat their candidate, so they're mobilizing their forces across the nation to try to defeat me.

We can WIN, but only with your help. Please GO HERE to donate to LEWIS FOR SENATE.

Liberal Senator Robert Byrd is wholeheartedly committed to cutting U.S. military funding, denying President Bush's judicial nominees a fair vote, and allowing the Social Security System to remain on a collision course with bankruptcy. His continued support for ultra-liberal causes can only mean one thing:

Robert Byrd has lost touch with American values.

This was the man who called our own troops "international bullies" and predicted that the Iraq mission to defeat Saddam Hussein would fail. Byrd is a man who takes the side of our international enemies.

Byrd has called conservatives like you and me "Nazis" and "demons". He is the self-titled "King of Pork", because he is proud of his ability to tax and spend YOUR tax dollars on wasteful government projects... including a gigantic bronze statue of himself!

Byrd has used his votes to attempt to limit your ability to protect yourself and your family by weakening the Second Amendment, and to give more money and power to the socialist-leaning United Nations.

This is your chance to put an end to his agenda!

<snip>

Let me tell you a little about myself. After serving in the effort to liberate Iraq from the iron-fisted dictatorship of Saddam Hussein, I returned to the U.S. with a renewed determination to make a difference in my home state of West Virginia. Experiencing firsthand how destructive the rhetoric of Senator Byrd was in the Iraq war, and how demoralizing his statements have been to our troops , I am sure that new leadership is needed.

Imagine hearing of a West Virginia Senator who reduces government bureaucracy, provides positive solutions to social problems, approves judges who believe in the Constitution's original intent, stands up for the rights of the unborn, proudly supports the U.S. military mission, ends unfair taxation, and holds to the family values we grew up with and encourages passing those same values on to our children.

I am a conservative Republican who is pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, pro-American sovereignty, pro tax-reform, and I proudly served and support our armed service!

That's my vision. That's why I want to be the next Senator from West Virginia.

With extensive legal, political and military leadership experience, I am qualified, ready, and willing to serve at this important post. But as with any political election, I can't do it without help. A gift of any size, $30, $65, $175, or even more, would give me the resources I need to serve and defend American freedom

(Moveon.org's record-breaking fundraising effort in March resulted in an average gift of $42 per respondent for Byrd. Perhaps you would consider doubling that -- $84 to help Byrd "MoveOut" of Washington and eat crow!)

<snip>

Liberal fat cats across the nation are supporting Byrd's anti-American, anti-Bush policies, and they're willing to put their money where their mouth is. They're willing to give not just hundreds or thousands, but hundreds of thousands of dollars to see that their far-left agenda governs your child's future. They not only want power, they want to END conservatism and REVERSE all that we've accomplished for America.

I CAN WIN! Not only did I come within eight tenths of one percent of winning in my last election, but President Bush carried West Virginia by 13 points in November, 2004! John Thune came close in 2002, and then came back to win in 2004 against Tom Daschle. I came close in 2004, statewide, and I can win in 2006 against Robert Byrd!

The Democrats wouldn't be fighting so hard if they thought Byrd's seat was safe. They know he is vulnerable to defeat. They know that, for the first time in a long time, Republicans can win this Senate seat in West Virginia.

But if we're going to win, we're going to have to go toe-to-toe and dollar-for-dollar against Moveon.org and the Democratic machine. We're going to have to stand up to Byrd's dirty politics and Moveon's billionaire backers. That's why I'm appealing to you for help.

5. Yeah, that "vulnerable" bit is even sillier than the "liberal" one...
Byrd is a freaking shoe in. Not even close. The man's a sacred cow in W.Va.

7. Hiram Lewis?
He actually expects the bigot Republicans to vote for him with an Islamic sounding name like that? Please.

And saying that Senator Byrd doesn't care about values? Please, he probably knows more about the Constitution then half of the GOP.. he's just so sad because Byrd is raising money from individual citizens rather then corporate special interests like the GOP.

I highly doubt Mr. Lewis will make too much of a dent in this campaign (not that we should take it for granted, but still).

8. I've always wondered what an "ultraliberal" was
I've heard Republicans use that term for over 25 years and I still don't know what they're talking about.

9. Byrd used to be considered a conservative...
...it's not his fault that the Republican party has adopted a right-wing pseudofascist platform that is enough to make anybody seem like a liberal.

Bob Byrd will be in the Senate until he decides it's time to quit. He is a great American hero who deserves our support.
