The City of Oswego Republican gov't. , embroiled in scandal for the last 2 months. Mayor indited for soliciting sex from minor females. (He was the subject of DU conservative idiots several weeks ago) the police chief fired for having stolen merchandise (had a visit by the FBI)..several other city employees arrested. Very heavily republican city for a long time. The common council went from 5-2 republican to 5-2 democratic after the elections. Quite a turn-around!

I've read about both scandals and I can't believe how corrupt that town under the Republicans has been.

Suffolk County's legislature is now Democratic and took the Mayor's and Supervisor's races in several towns. The Democrats also won the DA race in Nassau. In Westchester County, the Democrats picked up the County Clerk's office, but Jeanine Pirro's sucessor, Janet DiFiore, won the DA race. Upstate also looked good with Ulster County (home of Woodstock and the Green Party Mayor Jason West, who gave gay marriage licenses) the legislature turned to the Democrats for the first time in 25 years and only the second time in history. Saratoga Springs now has a Democratic Mayor, the Mayor of Syracuse managed to win a tough re-election bid against his Republican challenger, and Buffalo now has its first black mayor, who is a Democrat.
