Bushy speech today really pissed me off (my first DU rant).
http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/11/11/bush.intel/index.html

"While it's perfectly legitimate to criticize my decision or the conduct of the war, it is deeply irresponsible to rewrite the history of how that war began," the president said during a Veterans Day speech in Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania.

"We know where they are. They’re in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad, and east, west, south and north, somewhat." -Rummy

"I’m absolutely sure that there are weapons of mass destruction there and the evidence will be forthcoming. We’re just getting it now." -Powell

"Oh, no, we’re not going to have any casualties." -Bush

"It could last six days, six weeks. I doubt six months." -Rummy

"You can’t distinguish between al-Qaida and Saddam." -Bush

"There clearly are contacts between al-Qaida and Saddam Hussein that can be documented." -Condi

"We know that he’s been absolutely devoted to trying to acquire nuclear weapons, and we believe he has, in fact, reconstituted nuclear weapons." -Cheney

"The danger to our country is grave. The danger to our country is growing. The regime is seeking a nuclear bomb, and with fissile material could build one within a year." -Bush

"There is no doubt the Iraqi regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised." -Bush

-2,062 American Soldiers Dead
-200 Additional International Soldiers Dead
-15,568 American Soldiers Wounded
-26,931 to 30,318 Iraqi Civilians known to have died and countless others injured

HOW DARE HE TELL US WE ARE REWRITING HISTORY! I'm sorry Mr. President, but the facts are that YOU and and your fellow
neo-cons LIED us into a war that has cost us. YOU are trying to rewrite history when you stand in front of the American people (on Veteran's Day of all days), and tell them that your opponents are trying to "rewrite history." YOU are responsible for what happened. YOU LIED and YOU are STILL lying to the American people! We will not still back in ignorance why you continue to lie Mr. President. Some of us believe in justice and honesty. We will continue to investigate and attack you for lying to the American people, and the day we stop because you think we are trying to "rewrite history" will be a sad, sad, SAD day for America.

1. K & R - Nice Rant
A belated welcome to DU. Nice rant and the same things flashed through my mind while listening to it. I thought his whole speech about Bin Laden sounded like he was talking about himself.

3. This is a careful analysis, not a rant. I post rants, there are not
nearly enough profanities in this to be a rant. Rants are irrational emotional outbursts posted to obtain an immediate reduction in blood pressure. You obviously thought long and hard about this excellent post, which I am nominating.

15. Same here. This is a great post.
I agree. This is not a rant - this is a lethal weapon - against Bush. Imagine if everybody stood up & said this as well - Bush would be out in a matter of weeks.

I'm nominating, and I've only nominated 1 thread before:smoke:

5. It is UNNECESSARY to rewrite the history of how that war began
because the scurrilous facts of that history are more than adequate for IMPEACHMENT and criminal INDICTMENT several times over!

6. Remember how he rewrote the cause for war
2003: We must stop this evil guy from getting nukes and drones that can hit New York City, and mobile weapons labs and chemical and biological weapons that number in the thousands of numbers of shells he has in his arsenal.

2004 and 2005: We are here to spread freedom and liberate the Iraqi people from evil tyranny and opression from a man who will not allow....freedom and democracy, and will not allow his people freedom and democracy.

Look how easy it is for many on this site to quote their lies, with names and dates. This could be exciting.

Frankly, that moron can't open his mouth without pissing me off.
Or making me want to :puke:
Depends on my mood.

I do believe in karma-- I do. And I believe he's already
reaping what he's sown. I think they all are.

10. With 57% of this country
now believing that Bush/Cheney lied our country into a deceptive, pathetic war, I also believe that this "speech" will in the next few days ultimately prove that this administration has indeed "shit in their hat". The great "awakening" at long last, is now here.

16. The other day I went to go see Amy Goodman speak
and before she spoke they showed a video and in the video was a boy, I think he was around 12, and he'd had his hands blown off when a bomb hit his house. His whole family was killed, and all that was left of his forearms were the bones sticking out of charred flesh.

This is what Bush did when he lied us into a war.

17. He doesn't even bother rewriting his speeches...
His writers are just cutting and pasting these days. With a bit of acid for the doubters.

Check it out at:

19. "Decision to remove Saddam"
“When I made the decision to remove Saddam Hussein from power, Congress approved it with strong bipartisan support.”

Uhm, no, this is what Bush said about the resolution in the fall of 2002:

Sept 7, 2002

Its my honor to welcome the Prime Minister back to Camp David. I look forward to spending a good three hours talking to our friend about how to keep the peace.

Video

Sept 10, 2002

“I'll make the case of how I think we ought to proceed, on how we work together to keep the peace.”

Video

Sept 19, 2002

“I am sending suggested language for a resolution. I want -- I've asked for Congress' support to enable the administration to keep the peace…If you want to keep the peace, you've got to have the authorization to use force. But it's -- this will be -- this is a chance for Congress to indicate support. It's a chance for Congress to say, we support the administration's ability to keep the peace. That's what this is all about.”

Video

Sept 23, 2002

“I believe we can achieve peace. Oh, I know the kids hear all the war rhetoric and tough talk, and that's necessary to send a message.”

Video

Sept 27, 2002

“I'm willing to give peace a chance to work… People who are willing to work with us to send a clear message to the world, a unified message, a strong resolution which defines our vision for peace… I want you to know that behind the rhetoric of war is a deep desire for peace.”

Remarks

Sept 28, 2002

“I want to thank members of both political parties in the Congress for working on a strong statement of resolve that the world will see. Members of both political parties have worked together with the -- with members of my staff, to develop a statement that shows our determination and our desire to keep the peace<”

Remarks

Oct 7, 2002

“Approving this resolution does not mean that military action is imminent or unavoidable. The resolution will tell the United Nations, and all nations, that America speaks with one voice.”

20. What's he doing in Tobyhanna, PA? Where is Tobyhanna?
Guess he wouldnt go to a major metropolitan area which wouldn't be so controlled and unforgiving.

Good post, no, not a rant.
