Someone in power needs to cross the line and speak the "unspeakable." If Bush leaves open the option of a Libby pardon, people might just think Bush cut a deal to protect himself or Cheney. That idea needs some air play now that people don't trust Bush.
Reid said that Bush pardoning Libby would send the message that the White House considers itself above the law. I wish he would also say that some people might consider it a sign of complicity. The Bushies have no problem with appearing as if they think they are above the law.
I don't think the idea that Bush might be covering up is getting as much attention as it should be. Refusing to renounce a pardon of Libby looks bad. We should say so.
