Let's play: Fantasy Cabinet
Edited on Sat Nov-12-05 11:09 AM by ...of J.Temperance
I THINK this is in the correct forum, it's a political thing. I hope I'm right and it's not a lounge thing as well.

No scrapping over who's in who's Fantasy Cabinet now...keep it clean and friendly :) Oh the only rule is, that you have to do your best to fill in ALL the below Cabinet positions!

Who would your Fantasy Cabinet comprise of? Here's mine:

President John Edwards

Vice-President Mark Warner

Secretary of State Joseph Wilson

Secretary of Defense Max Cleland

National Security Wesley Clark

Attorney-General Richard Blumenthal (he's the A-G of Connecticut)

Solicitor-General Patricia Madrid (she's the A-G of New Mexico)

HUD Secretary William Daley (brother of Mayor Richard Daley)

Treasury Secretary Laurence Summers

Chairman of The Federal Reserve Robert Rubin

Ambassador to The UN Richard Holbrooke

Secretary of the Interior Thurbert Baker (he's the A-G of Georgia)

Veterans Affairs General Hugh Shelton (former Chairman of the JCoS)

Energy Secretary John Breaux

Secretary of Labor Richard Gephardt

Secretary of Health & Human Services Kathleen Sibelius (she's the Governor of Kansas and she has a brilliant health service record)

Secretary of Education Roy Barnes ("former" Governor of Georgia. I say "former" because I genuinely believe that Roy Barnes WAS re-elected ditto Senator Max Cleland...DIEBOLD stole it off them)

Environmental Protection Agency Lincoln Chafee (he does have a decent record here)

Chairman of the SEC Eliot Spitzer

Director of the CIA Valerie Plame Wilson (IF there was any justice she would be)

The Department of Homeland Security I would abolish, there's too many cooks in the kitchen and it's costing FAR TOO MUCH MONEY to run. It'd be abolished and I'd return all the relevant departments within it back to their original outside departments.

There you have it. I've shown you mine, now you show me yours...

On Edit: I know that not all the above positions are Cabinet positions, but WHAT the heck, I just threw all of them in.

Please be careful about using the phrase "too many chiefs and not enough indians." Many Native Americans take offense to it.

26. No, it's not harmless
And I didn't say it was malicious, but words don't have to be malicious to hurt. Furthermore, a society's measure of what is offensive should not be made by the people doing the talking, but by the people being talked about. "Cleveland Indians" and "Washington Redskins" may not be offensive to you, but they are very offensive to most Native Americans, and, in my book, WE (Native Americans) get to decide.

Often people do not know when something is offensive until they are told. Once informed, they usually try to curb the behavior out of respect and courtesy for the other person. That's all I was trying to do: make some people aware of a behavior that they might not have recognized as being offensive. The polite response is to say, "Thank you. I wasn't aware of that." Courtesy is still a virtue.

Additionally, I'm more impressed with those who had sense enough to NOT vote for the war in the first place.

18. These lists are fun.
One interesting thing is that we generally come up with mostly the same people, just assigned to different jobs. Which suggests to me that there's a really talented bunch of Democrats out there, and no matter who ends up in which position, they will be light-years ahead of the cretinous criminals we're stuck with now.

My own favorite person is Wes Clark. I'd like to see him run for President again, but I'd also be happy with him as Vice President, Secretary of State, or National Security Advisor. Then I'd pick a few of my other favorites (Boxer, Edwards, Cleland, Holbrooke, Wilson, Dean, etc.)), mix 'em around, and no matter where on the list they wind up I'd love it.

21. In reference to your opening paragraph
The fact that we mostly all come up with the same names, just in different job positions.

This ALSO tells me, that some of us might be in the center, some of us might be left-of-center and some of us might be left-left...but the fact that we ALL tend to choose many of the same names, that says that we're ALL part of the Democratic Party, we're ALL part of the same family. I don't like it when everybody starts arguing and having bust-up's, it's upsetting because we're all in the SAME party.

Personally I'm a Centrist Democrat, I'm in the Center, but I've got a STRONG Populist streak.

Re. Senator Boxer, yes if Phil Angelides kicks the Lughead out next year...then I'd have Barbara Boxer in my fantasy cabinet, I think Barbara Boxer would be trusted with protecting Social Security...or perhaps I'd appoint her as Under-Secretary of State to Joseph Wilson.

Senator Boxer :yourock:
