Novakula: Bush FURIOUS at 10 p.m. Buenos Aires dinner (after his bedtime)
WASHINGTON -- President Bush was furious with the staff preparation for last week's inter-American summit in Argentina where his trade proposals ran into unexpected opposition.

The president was reported as particularly unhappy with the work by his National Security Council staff in getting ready for the meeting. That added to Bush's distress in Buenos Aires, dealing with violent street demonstrators and hostile fellow presidents led by Venezuela's Hugo Chavez and including Argentina's Nestor Kirchner.

The crowning indignity for Bush was the Friday night state dinner starting at 10 p.m., an hour when the president normally is in bed. He left the dinner early, but it was midnight by then.

Maybe there is something to those reports after all. Not that Nofacts is a reliable source either but stories of * losing it are starting to be seen more frequently and in more places.

8. Novakula usually is accurate about such things; he's just kinda evil.
But the fact that even he's gone snarky about Bush doesn't bode well for the Little Cowboy.

...someone posted a link to a petition last week asking CNN to do that: fire his ass for good. So I think it's more of a "Leave of absence" thing...

9. Heh-heh-heh. Public temper tantrums.
Moving along, what's this stuff that appears below it about Dean being asked to apologize for saying Alito was weak on prosecuting the Mafia? Does this "leading California Democrat" think the Mafia is a good thing? Isn't that what Cosa Nostra is?

34. Amazing, isn't it? And so embarassing.
What a faux pas, to leave a state dinner early -- a dinner at which he, as a head of state, would have been an honored guest -- because it was past his bedtime. I just can't believe this guy.

13. Oh yeah what about this unexpected opposition
for his trade proposals. Who in the fuckin world would expect there NOT to be opposition to his proposals at a gathering like this where a lot of these countries are just starting to flex their economic muscles. I'd love to hear what his fellow "heads" of state said to each other after he flounced out of the dinner in a snit.

Bush is so dismayed that "the only person escaping blame is the president himself," said a sympathetic official, who delicately termed such self-exoneration "illogical."

We've had that here in Mass where a succession of GOP govs have fought to get elected only to leave without completing their terms (or esentially abdicating the throne - Weld, Cellucci, Swift and now Willard)

The "limited government" types screeching from the halls of Congress. What they're REALLY saying is limited accountability. The neocons are all for complete power-both in the public domain and our private lives. If a person is truly for a free, unfettered society, they will reject the neocon agenda and not go into politics but work for change outside of the system.

22. "The crowning indignity...."
was they ate at 10, when he was usually in bed? Does he understand that the custom in Latin America is a late dinner? Does he understand that most of the people in those countries are so poor they can't afford to eat such a feast at all? Does he understand that there are children in this country that go to bed hungry or unfed every night? Does he remember that people in New Orleans were left without food or water for almost a week... some left on the roofs of their houses, surrounded by water only to die of thirst? And, the time of a BANQUET was a "crowning indignity"?

Every day I find a new reason to be appalled by him and his administration. They disgust me.

24. Well, that's South America for you.
Later hours, a more leisurely and relaxed pace. It's embarrassing to realize that Dubya is actually representing US when he travels, and he's unable to adapt himself to the local atmosphere and respect the local ways. When in Rome, and all that. He really thinks everyone else should adapt themselves to him.

Though I've found that most people around the world have little trouble separating the Chimp from the rest of us. They don't hate Americans. They just hate Bush.

32. In a way, this reminds me of the West Wing episode
('Enemies Foreign and Domestic') where Sam is negotiating with the Soviets regarding details for an upcoming summit and at one juncture he mentions that President Bartlett does not deal well with jet lag. And that when the president gets upset people get fired and that he himself (Sam) had already been fired four times that year, so that point was definitely a dealbreaker.

44. If it's true he's really boozing again, he NEEDS to get back to his
hotel room early. He needs his fix. I know a lot of seemingly normal business people who are closet alkies. They need to get home early in order to drink the evening away. I doubt he actually goes to bed early but instead, retires to his private rooms, whether on the road or at home, and sips himself into oblivion.

Fucking idiot. Nice to see that he has his priorities straight. :sarcasm:
