GOLDEN GATE — Organizers expect more than 1,000 people at the Golden Gate Area Civic Association Saturday for a rally against gay marriage. The Collier County Christian Coalition says it's the first big rally they've had in at least 10 years.
"This is our first really big rally. We think we'll have a big crowd. We don't know because we've never done this before," said Christian Coalition president Jerry Rutherford.
The group wants Florida to join 19 other states and pass a constitutional amendment to ban same sex marriage.
They'll gather signatures at the event to get the amendment on next year's ballot. A total of 611,000 statewide is required. So far organizers say they have 100,000.
"We want to get it on the ballot. The reason for having the rally is to get the petitions signed, and then let the people decide," Rutherford said.
Organizers are expecting members from the Christian Coalition, Floridaformarriage.com and even Tom Gallagher, who's running for governor.

VENICE— ABC7 has discovered hundreds of empty FEMA trailers sitting on lots, while hundreds of people remain homeless across southwest Florida. Why aren't the trailers getting to the people who need them?
The sight of over 300 trailers in a lot off I-75 looks strikingly similar to FEMA City in Charlotte County, but there is one big difference. This one sits empty.
In a way it's a good sign showing help is on the way for those left homeless by Wilma, but the big question is when will the homes get there?
Lorraine Hallihan's home was badly damaged by Hurricane Wilma. There holes in the ceiling and in the floor, yet she still lives there with 5 other people, including a 10 month old.

Lawsuit filed against Sarasota priest

SARASOTA — A lawsuit says a former altar boy at a Sarasota church was molested 20 years ago by a Catholic priest.
The lawsuit, filed yesterday, is against 65-year-old George Brennan and the Diocese of Venice.
It says the alleged abuse took place when the man was 11. The lawsuit claims it occurred for more than a year while Brennan was a seminarian at the Incarnation Catholic Church.
In 1991, Brennan pleaded no contest to exposing himself to an undercover deputy during an investigation of men soliciting male prostitutes at an Interstate 75 rest stop.
