Do politicians retire before their term is up "to spend more time with
their family?" I know this happens to reporters, etc who do not tow the line, but I wondered about politicians - in particular - Arnold. Somehow I can't see him wanting to continue to play Governor. I think the fun has gone out of it for him.

I don't think I have ever heard of a politician quitting because things were not going their way - but there is a first time for everything. Anybody know anything about this?

Woodward: "We can't seem to figure out what the puzzle is supposed to look like. John Mitchell resigns as the head of CREEP ... says he wants to spend more time with his family. Sounds like bullshit. We don't exactly believe that."

Deep Throat: "No, but it's touching. Forget the myths the media's created about the White House. The truth is, these are not very bright guys ... and things got out of hand."

3. It came about one year when an embattled pol confessed

that he was quitting "to spend more time with his bookie and mistress."
Subsequently, for some reason every politician or aide de camp has quit to spend "more time with their family."

Such honesty in government has rarely been seen before or since.
